Anyone think this cats worth a gamble with the 1st pick on sunday?

I dig the whole height thingy, but this guy would be a solid pick with the 1st pick in rd 4 if'n he's there.

Sorta a Tui replacement if you will

I could definitely see it. He's just the type of guy we'd need right now: Someone who can get the hell out of dodge while the O-line gets its shit together. Give him a Curry/Johnson tandem outside, and I think he could be pretty effective for us.

I'm hoping for a lot more from that 4th rounder. Somebody that can develop into an impact player. I look at how SD landed Shaun Phillips in the 4th a couple years back and thats what I'm hoping for.

They scout soooooo much better than we do.

And, truth be told, it's becoming much easier to find 3-4 personnel than 4-3.

If we havent taken a QB I think its worth a 4th. The people who tell you to watch the games and not worry about the measurables better all be Troy Smith fans. He is shorter and not especially fast either, but he looks like a poor man's Drew Brees when you watch film. He is a fiery competitor a leader basically a guy who is a Gamer. I have rooted against him as a Michigan fan and he makes you mad with the clutch plays he makes. He didnt win the Heisman by accident. I think he will be a very good 3rd string QB at the very least. I dont know how he can dominate at Ohio and then be completly useless because he is a few inches short? He seems like he has the heart to work hard at least. A LOT of people said he would fail at Ohio too. They wont admit that know though.

4th round? Sure.

Heck, even after we take JaMarcus, I wouldn't be mad at taking Smith.

I'd give him Darnell Bing's "neck injury" from last year, put him on IR, and let him play in Europa for a year.

I want Kolb as my project QB. He has the tools and intangibles, all he needs is coaching to adjust.

I am with you I would love Kolb as a later pick, if we go the CJ route.....

Yeah, but I'm too afraid of the Andre Ware 'gimmick offense' problem. I go on and off the Kolb bandwagon.. but in the end, I think it's risky to draft the gimmick product. Besides, he didn't win the Heisman.. so I think Al will go with Troy Smith. That's my story, and I'm sticking with it.

I'm not banking on Kolb because of his statistics, though.... which is the fallacy in a passer-friendly offense. I believe in his tools and I hear good things about his intangibles.

I think after BQ and Russell we are most likely talking about a guy who is just being brought in to be our 3rd stringer with the possibility of a nice suprise. In other words a wasted pick if its too high.
