Troy Smith measures in at: 6 feet 222

He would be a good draft pick for anyone in Rnd 3. Rnd 2 stills seems like a gamble.

I'm not as high on him as others, but I'm glad he cleared the dreaded 6 foot barrier... I hope someone takes him in the late first and pushes a guy I want down a notch....

Yeah, don't get me wrong: Im not a fan of his and dont want to draft him, but the guys got a good arm, good mobility and is now a legit size for an NFL QB.

I see him going round 2 now.

Levi Brown looks really good so far.

Absolutely owned Woodley and another DE (I forget the name) in the isolation drills.

He's solid and doesnt carry any flab.

I don't know how some scouts are dropping this guy...He'll be a top 25 pick, IMO.

WTF they puts some of those Dr. Schols in his friggin' shoes? I'm no fan of that guy. We gotta bigger fish to fry. And taking him with our #2 is WAY too high.

Good for him, he should make a quality late round Round WR or CB...Because he can't play QB in the pros.............

Was that you who said he'd never measure over 5-11, and that Brady Quinn DWARFED him at the Heisman ceremony?

I tend to agree with you. But they did say that about Drew Brees though. If we took Smith in Rnd3 i would only grumble slightly. Because he would be a decent Curry, Randall-El type.

I don't know if you are referring to me, but: (And I did start this thread saying I'd eat crow)

1) I figured Smith was way under 6 feet. I dunno, but I just did. I've watched OSU and am honestly suprised he came in at 6 feet flat.

2) Brady Quinn DOES dwarf Troy Smith. By 4 and a half to 5 inches. That's a lot. Especially when grading franchise QB's.
I can only think of two good QB's in recent history that checked out under 6-1. Vick (Who has athleticism that is unmatched in the league) and Brees (Who is one of the smartest QB's)

Smith doesnt do anything exceptionally, which is why he's still a 2nd or 3rd rounder.

Brady Quinn is 6-4.

if Troy Smith is 6-2, that's only 2 inches.

EDIT: My bad. I misunderstood your title. I thought it was a typo and that you were calling him 6-2, not 6-0, 222 ...

Gotcha.

I think we can both agree that neither will dawn Oakland Raider uni's in the near future, lol.

;)

Never know these days.

I wouldn't be surprised if either was taken (though certainly not both).

Al Davis loves them Heisman winners. Troy Smith in Round 2 might still be the way he goes if he takes Peterson or Johnson in Round 1.

On a side note:

Troy Smith has been head and shoulders above all other QB's in Senior bowl practices thus far.

HBoy's boy Kevin Kolb's been aight too.

Palko has a noodle arm, btw.

I'd take a flyer on Chris Leak in the later rounds. I don't know, something tells me he'll be a serviceable QB in the NFL. Probably size wise in the Smith mold but I like his smarts and he'd be a helluva lot cheaper.

To be honest Turk, Leak looks really skinny and undersized.

Smith is well built and has a muscular frame, but Leak barely packs 200 pounds on his frame.

That being said, I take a flyer on him with one of our 5th rounders

Leak has CFL written all over him. From what I've seen, he has absolutely no zing on the ball. He'd be throwing pick-6s left and right in the NFL.
