Trinidad Chambliss Jihad

The Jets would have to trade five first round picks and every single great player they have for me to even consider it. Event then, why?

We have seen a great roster without a quarterback: the Colts. No thanks.

Draft the QB.

The purpose of this thread is to pump Chambliss, not argue against Mendoza.

The roster not only was among the worst in the league last season, more than half the total 53-man roster are some form of FA. That is a major project, three years minimum so drafting Mendoza gets you a team capable of a run in the playoffs in when -- 2028?

If the Raiders have picks 1.2 and 1.16 in this draft, as well as picks 2.33 and 2.36 AND three firsts in the 2027 draft, that takes a year off the rebuild with good picks. And yeah, things can go wrong, just like with the QB any time at 1.1.

Just like when we picked Ferrell/Abram/Arnette/Ruggs/Leatherwood/Jacobs with all those first rounders last time and you loved each of em and had them all fitted for gold jackets within a week.

Take the fuckin QB first overall. That opportunity doesnt come along often.

Sure.

But here is the thing. Hit on the QB at 1.1 and it makes a bigger difference than hitting on all those non-QB picks.

No need to pump up Trinidad.

I think we all like him quite a bit.

The opportunity to get 1.1 is rare though and a) I don't want to go through another shit season trying to end up high enough draft the type of QB you're looking for, and b) the type of QB you're looking for will never be for sale.

Sometimes you just have to accept the opportunity in front of you and hope it works.

Oddly determined. Is it a money thing (NIL), or what? I get that he's not NFL ready, and another year could do him a lot of good. But I've never heard of anyone fighting the system to this degree.
 
I don't see the Jets giving up the farm for the first pick this year. They missed out on Moore (and I'm not sure he was ready) and there just isn't another first round QB this year- not even someone like Dart last year. This assumes they have a brain, but they're probably realizing that will all these picks, they'll add more talent, but still suck ass, and in a much deeper draft next year, have more options with all those picks.

As for Raiders, I'm assuming Mendoza is the pick- and that every HC interview is being conducted with that as the assumption for both sides.

Usually it's the other way around. Who knows what NFL teams actually think about him though. He could easily be getting high end backup QB grades.
 
Jeremiah's board fluctuates but I saw on TV he said he currently has one QB in his early top 50 prospects.

The only other guy outside of Moore who was going to be on it was Sorsby (Credit to @godeep811 !)

At some point you have to build an NFL roster.

FFS, a drafting a QB is a crapshoot. So, yeah hit on the QB at 1.1 and it helps more. Don't hit, and you are screwed for six-seven years.

He's got a lawyer. An asshole lawyer. Absent this lawyer, he's in the draft. But the lawyer venue shopped and figured a Mississippi jury will side with Chambliss no matter what.
