It seems the last castoff older QB we got from KC was some good... it looks like hes going to be released and i cant think of a better alternative right now... we need 3 qbs anyway and Green is a great option for at least one year.

Sign me up. The guy is almost Gannon like when it comes to work ethic and the concept of team over individual. Moss wouldn't stand a chance.

Something rubs me the wrong way about Green... the guy's too milqe toast... kind of a bitch.

At what price ..... ?

One good *DING* to the skull and the guy might spend the rest of his life drooling into a cup.

Well, if the price is right, and we are good with the above reality, yeah, I think Green would be a reasonable guy to keep the QB seat warm until we have our QB of the future ready to go.

Miami apparently is interested in him. He enjoyed the luxury of playing behind a pretty decent OL in KC. He's not going to have that luxury here although as a team/lockerrom guy there's probably no one better.

Funny, because I'd usually say the same thing.

But beggars can't be chosers and he can't be anymore of a bitch than Jeff Garcia.

IMO he would be a better pickup than Garcia.

IMO that's not saying a whole lot.

Green's concussion last season would probably scare me off. That was a damn ugly hit he took. I felt it on my couch.

Well Green as a tutor to Walter or a Russell would be Ok with me!
Not ready to make him the starter, but then again he cold start and then next year or the year after someone take over.....

Green would be as good as any other "vet qb" signing. he's got a couple years left in the tank but I'm more about developing young quarterbacks than recycling old ones. I'd rather see Walter behind center than Green, but he'd be nice to have as a backup if we don't select Russell.

Here we go round the qarterback bush..

We have to wait for him to be cut and I doubt he makes it.

Chiefs Really Want to Trade Green, Just Not to Oakland

Hmmm. Who do you think the Chiefs have in mind when you read this?
Kansas City sent out a memo to the rest of the NFL, declaring that quarterback Trent Green is free to discuss a deal with every team in the league -- except the ones in the AFC West.
NFL Network's Adam Schefter points out that Denver and San Diego have young quarterbacks and aren't in the market for a starter. Which leaves ... the Oakland Raiders. That's right, the Chiefs think so much of Green they are trying to trade him (to give Damon Huard the job), just not to the Raiders. You know, because he might actually will that team to more than two wins next season.

I can kinda understand the thinking here, but it doesn't mean it's any less stupid. If the Chiefs can't find a team willing to take Green off their hands, they will either have to keep him or release him. If they keep him, he probably won't be all that happy about his new role as clipboard-toter. If they release him, the Chiefs get nothing and Green is free to sign with any team ... including the Raiders. Lose and lose.

The Dolphins have expressed interest in Green -- they too have a real need for a competent starting quarterback -- but if Miami is smart, they could acquire Green for a late-round pick, and turn around and try to extort a better deal out of the Raiders for his services. If it works, great; if not, the Dolphins have a short-term solution to their quarterback issues. Especially if they manage to land Brady Quinn in next month's draft.

You really can't fault the Chiefs for wanting to keep Trent Green away from the Raiders. The last quarterback to go from the Chiefs to the Raiders did pretty well in Oakland. Obviously this is still a sore subject in Kansas City with their refusal to trade with the Raiders.

While Green might not be the next Rich Gannon for the Raiders, the move would make a lot of sense for Oakland. If they could protect him. Maybe even more so than acquiring Jake Plummer.

Green put up three-consecutive seasons of passing for more than 4,000 yards and that streak ended because of injuries. If the Raiders draft a quarterback or not, they are still going to need a veteran presence back there to bring along Brady or Russell. And Andrew Walter probably isn't going to fill that void.

That Culpepper guy would also fetch a pretty nice draft pick from this team.

If we want Green we just need to let the bucs make their inevitable move for him and then make the trade with them.
