Training camp thread 2026...

I don't think Washington is a Zamir White, but he might have some trouble making guys miss especially in the back field.
If they can get these backs across the line of scrimmage without getting hit it would be a huge improvement and the chunk plays will come.

I'm not expecting perfection or a hat on everyone, just get these guys across the line of scrimmage more often than not.

Coach said his running style is perfect fit for the system and that's why he pounded the table for him.
Absolutely does not have the same shiftiness as Jeanty.

I'm going with being shiftier than I thought based on what he showed in the preseason against the grocery baggers.

:koolaid:

What we saw was that he's a perfect fit for the scheme as coach said I think. I saw more power and speed than shiftiness.
He compliments Jeanty- who is shorter and shiftier. He is taller and has more breakaway ability. He reminds me a bit of McFadden a bit- but thicker. That's a solid one two punch if the o-line can open up some holes.

Only thing noticeably missing is the extra gear once he gets behind the defense. He's not hard to catch. He can pick up some nice chunks before he's caught, but he hasn't looked like a 4.3 guy at the end of his runs.

Still looks like a keeper, though.

Imo, different type runner from McFadden. McFadden was terrible in the Shanahan scheme under Lance and Cable. Remember, he didn't get going until Hue put in a scheme with similar runs to what he had in college. That year and a half was the only time he looked like a stud during his career. This dude reminds me of a bigger version of Jamal Charles from the Chefs how he hits the hole fast and goes.

Might be because of how big he is. That's a big mofo and a lot of weight to be carrying once he gets into the open field. Dude is like 230, 235.

Yes, he does not accelerate as quickly as a 190 lb DB. Also, when you run with a football and are conscientious about protecting it, you run slower than you test.

Huggy Bear was the comp I liked the most. McFadden was also a solid comp. In that once he got going he was close to gone. You just had to hope nobody got in his way because he would always find a way to collide with that player. Hopefully Washington can do that going forward at the next level. Having two high variance runners is kind of scary. Nothing, Nothing, Nothing, 2 yards, 2 yards, nothing 15 yards, 40 yards nothing, nothing, nothing 2 yards
