This Team Sucks

Not a great crop of FA OL next offseason and teams don't typically let premier OL walk.
Shit happens every year make a trade for a guy who is getting paid that a team is struggling to keep up with cap space. The Ravens center is an absolute stud and may test the waters. Even the Jets have a few OG’s that would be a nice improvement. Even if Vera Tucker who can’t stop getting hurt could be worth a shot. It’s only cap and not like we don’t have a need. He’s a damn good guard when he’s on the field.

It's not a great OL draft at the top either but should be plenty of potential starting caliber guys at the top of the 2nd/3rd rounds.

We need a coach/GM that are on the same page and go get some shit done. So much of what we did this past year had stinky Pete's stench on it.
I think the spin is starting to turn the other way now. We didn’t do enough to support Pete…. We forced an OC on him… we didn’t get the all the players he wanted.. blah blah blah. Even on Locked on podcast today Robert Turbin tried to suggest we didn’t draft Sanders because of Brady… not that Chip had his guy but Brady. People grasping at straws

Yep

Good luck to Raiders grass in trying to fill the OL holes in FA

I’m not getting my hopes up but I will say I’m seeing a tiny sliver of light at the end of the tunnel. Our only shot of getting out of the abyss, or at least starting the process of it, is by having a chance to draft a potential franchise QB.

This year, there are potentially 3 who are options… Mendoza, Moore, and Simpson. The former two are legit top 5 picks to me. I still think Moore ends up declaring, especially now that he’s lost his OC. Simpson is in more of that Dart as a prospect for me, I’d take him top 10 because he’s a QB but admittedly it’s a little high for him and he’d likely go late 1st.

Having a shot at a QB might actually make this team a hot commodity for a coach to want to come and try and turn around. Especially an offensive coach. You already have Bowers. Jeanty hasn’t been able to show much but I think coaches would love to scheme things up for him. We’d also have a ton of cap space to bring in FAs and plenty of picks in the draft to work with as well. If you add a good coach, fill some holes in the draft/FA (especially OL), and Mendoza/Moore are legit then 2026 might not be so miserable. A lot of ‘what if’s’ still need to happen but, like I said, I’m actually at least seeing a tiny sliver of light at the end of the tunnel of all this.

If Pete loses out he’s fired.

Some potential young coaches if we fire Pete, as I expect to happen… who you taking?

Offensive coaches who would be first time HCs:

Klint Kubiak, OC, Seattle
— he actually had Carr and their offense humming in early 2024 before injuries started the derailment of that team. He’s coaching a damn good offense this year and continues to help Darnold look good. JSN has had a great year under him but I’ve been really impressed how Kubiak motions him all over and gets him favorable matchups all game long even when DCs know where Darnold is going

Joe Brady, OC, Buff — coached Burrow at LSU, Bruce Young in Carolina, now Allen in Buffalo. Without a doubt Allen makes it easier on him but he’s still a damn good offensive mind. His running scheme is fun to watch too, James Cook has lit it up the last 2 years.

Mike LaFleur, OC, LAR
Josh Grizzard, OC, TB
Lincoln Riley, HC, USC (very unlikely)

Defensive coaches who would be first time HCs in the NFL:

Marcus Freeman, HC, Notre Dame (unlikely)
Jesse Minter, DC, LAC
Kelvin Sheppard, DC, Detroit
Chris Shula, DC, LAR

And the retreads (or ones who might potentially be available) who are not necessarily young:

Mike Tomlin, HC, Pitt
John Harbaugh, HC, Balt
Mike McCarthy, former Dallas HC
Robert Saleh, DC, San Francisco
As a die hard USC fan, there's no way I'd want Lincoln Riley! Fuckin' milktoast, visor wearing, gutless HC! In my not so humble opinion. In fact you can throw any of those guys out if they're visor guys!
Note: Please tell me Shula doesn't wear one like his daddy did? I actually like Shula's D.

The inmates running the prison?
In this regard I think it's fair. He's already had 5 head coaches. He'd be on his 6th head coach at 28 years old if we fired Pete and hired someone else. Maxx has been nothing but great to this franchise and has sucked it up and played his ass off and been as much of a leader as you can hope for in this shitshow. If he told Spytek that he just isn't able to go through ANOTHER head coach and rebuild and he wants to get traded to a contender then I trade him and get as much capital as I can for the rebuild.

Do it Maxx. Just do it.

Why not also start Charles Grant at OT?

Moe Moton
Call me cynical, but the Raiders youth movement we’re finally seeing seems injury-induced.

RG: JPJ out, Meredith banged up (Caleb Rogers gets more snaps)

WR: Dont’e Thornton Jr. was in concussion protocol (Jack Bech played a bigger role in the offense)

CB: Kyu Blu Kelly carted off the field (Darien Porter fills in)

I’m happy to see the rookies play, but let’s not act like the Raiders coaching staff had some epiphany about when to play them. A lot of it is out of necessity because of injuries.

The coaching staff has mismanaged talent and delayed development.

So Josh as some of you might know is a beat writer for the Niners and apparently has a hard on for the Raiders for whatever reason. I understand that he posts mainly facts but I also haven' read anything negative he has written about the Niners.
