This Team Sucks

In looking at Rogers- he played ok- and actually looked better than Putnam (easy to do), and from the get go you could notice he's just a bigger more powerful player. Not sure why he was buried in depth chart other than Pete being stubborn, or hid kid being an idiot- or more likely, both. Glaze was atrocious. It's hard to tell why these guys look so bad but clearly coaching isn't helping. It's time to put in Grant at RT and late him get some snaps. All the teams coming up have solid fronts so that game experience will only help.
 
So how do you fix this mess?

1) I suppose Spytek gets another year. I still can't say how good his drafting is b/c this coaching staff won't play any rookies. But let him have another year.
2) Can all coaches, though Rob Leonard could be a sneaky good coach to keep.
3) If picking in top 3- take a QB
4) Do everything to sign the Baltimore center. Keep JPJ at guard. And add the highest rated guard in Round 2.
5) look for a HC from the offensive side.
6) Tell Brady to STFU until further notice
7) Start exploring a sale of the franchise


Number 7 is the most important
 
I'm not sure you can go into next season with JPJ anything more than lightly penciled in as a primary option.

Just too many question marks with him, IMO.

I'm curious where Maxx's head is going to be at if there's another coaching change as well, especially on his side of the football.
 
I’m not getting my hopes up but I will say I’m seeing a tiny sliver of light at the end of the tunnel. Our only shot of getting out of the abyss, or at least starting the process of it, is by having a chance to draft a potential franchise QB.

This year, there are potentially 3 who are options… Mendoza, Moore, and Simpson. The former two are legit top 5 picks to me. I still think Moore ends up declaring, especially now that he’s lost his OC. Simpson is in more of that Dart as a prospect for me, I’d take him top 10 because he’s a QB but admittedly it’s a little high for him and he’d likely go late 1st.

Having a shot at a QB might actually make this team a hot commodity for a coach to want to come and try and turn around. Especially an offensive coach. You already have Bowers. Jeanty hasn’t been able to show much but I think coaches would love to scheme things up for him. We’d also have a ton of cap space to bring in FAs and plenty of picks in the draft to work with as well. If you add a good coach, fill some holes in the draft/FA (especially OL), and Mendoza/Moore are legit then 2026 might not be so miserable. A lot of ‘what if’s’ still need to happen but, like I said, I’m actually at least seeing a tiny sliver of light at the end of the tunnel of all this.

If Pete loses out he’s fired.

Some potential young coaches if we fire Pete, as I expect to happen… who you taking?

Offensive coaches who would be first time HCs:

Klint Kubiak, OC, Seattle — he actually had Carr and their offense humming in early 2024 before injuries started the derailment of that team. He’s coaching a damn good offense this year and continues to help Darnold look good. JSN has had a great year under him but I’ve been really impressed how Kubiak motions him all over and gets him favorable matchups all game long even when DCs know where Darnold is going

Joe Brady, OC, Buff — coached Burrow at LSU, Bruce Young in Carolina, now Allen in Buffalo. Without a doubt Allen makes it easier on him but he’s still a damn good offensive mind. His running scheme is fun to watch too, James Cook has lit it up the last 2 years.

Mike LaFleur, OC, LAR
Josh Grizzard, OC, TB
Lincoln Riley, HC, USC (very unlikely)

Defensive coaches who would be first time HCs in the NFL:

Marcus Freeman, HC, Notre Dame (unlikely)
Jesse Minter, DC, LAC
Kelvin Sheppard, DC, Detroit
Chris Shula, DC, LAR

And the retreads (or ones who might potentially be available) who are not necessarily young:

Mike Tomlin, HC, Pitt
John Harbaugh, HC, Balt
Mike McCarthy, former Dallas HC
Robert Saleh, DC, San Francisco

I think a rookie QB combined with a young 2nd tier offensive HC would at least get some of our juices flowing. Good or bad you could at least have some hope and see what happens.

I dont think I could personally stomach Pete Carroll and Geno Smith another year. That would probably do me in permanently lol.

Worst case for me is we win a game or two to end up in draft purgatory with Moore/Simpson staying in school so no chance at a decent QB prospect and we end up with Pete/Geno in 2026.

given how radioactive the franchise is, how negative would you feel about McCarthy given what he's done over his career?
 
Vegas currently has Carroll at +700-750 to be fired, which apparently translates to 12-14 percent chance. Apparently no such betting line exists for Geno but you gotta figure it mirrors Pete pretty closely.

TL;DR - 85% chance we're drafting a safety.

Part of me thinks he’s a decent offensive coach who has had a lot of success, part of me sees the Cowboys not doing any worse without him and not wanting anything to do with him. He’s not exactly a spring chicken either.
