This is just sick.

And a load of reps to you, sir.

Awesome stuff.

I hope (pray) that Mike Bush can be like Ty Wheatley was for us.

Big, bruising, nasty and with a chip on his shoulder.

My two favorite Wheatley runs.. the Chefs one, obviously, and his last one in that video where he outruns and punks Shawn Springs. LOL.

I almost forgot how good our running game used to be. See some of those HOLES by the offensive line?

I remember it well. It was average and came only in spurts. Basically a tease of dominance. You wanna make me miss a RB combo, post a Bo Jackson/Marcus Allen vid.

And I do like Kaufman alot, but he never took it to the next level imo. In fact warrick Dunn is a poor man's version of what he could have been.

What that we sent the benchmark so low for Mike Bush?

Hmmm.

If our 4th rounder gets anywhere close to how solid Wheatley was for us during our run, I'll be very pleased.

Wheatley had a 4.3 career YPC average in his time with the Raiders and had two great seasons and a few solid seasons for us in a split carry system with Kaufman and then Charlie Garner.

Injuries derailed a very promising run he had for us, IMO.

He always ran balls out healthy or not. I hope Bush will do the same.

No doubt Wheatley was effective in a RBBC system we employed under Blondie. I just think Bush has a lot more upside and the potential to be a great feature back in this league. I never considered Wheat to be anywhere near an elite back during his career.

Agreed, though he served the role of "hammer" extremely well on a team that was well balanced and had quicker RB's in Kaufman/Garner to take half the load. Tyronne Wheatley is one of my all-time favorite Raiders, regardless of of his talent level. I throw Zach Crockett and good ol' Eddie Anderson in the same category.

What's sad is the memory of Wheatly futiley trying to run against the middle of that Baltimore D.

Hahaha.... I never really cared that much for Wheatley. I was more of a Kaufman groupie. Have no idea what to really expect from Bush...

The first thing I thought when I saw that video was how many copyright restrictions could those idiots violate at one time. Not that I care, but if that's an attempt at a marketing piece.... oh man.

Then I turn to PFT and read this...

More joy from the no fun league. What exactly are they trying to prove? Are they trying to bust our balls --- a bunch of fans trying to follow and cheer for their team? You see any advertising or money producing shit on this site? Fuck the NFL.

lol. True.

No roids to fix being injured all the time, hey?

:)

I've been meaning to talk to Crossbones about instituting a "no talking bad about Tyrone Wheatley" policy...

I still say that, despite the fact that the '02 team made it to the Super Bowl, our team in '00 was the best team we've fielded in the last fifteen years or more.

Warrick Dunn is a poor man's version of nothin'.

Dude's been in the league 10 years and has never failed to reach 1,000 yards from scrimmage.

His average year is
15 games
225 carries
946 yards
4.2 ypc
4 TDs
43 catches
377 yards
8.9 ypc
1.5 TDs

That's the high side of what a RBBC leader looks like.

If Kaufman had stuck around 4 more years and come anywhere near those numbers, I'd be thrilled with that.

Agreed 100 percent.

F'n Ravens. F'n Siragusa. F'n stubborn Gruden.

Oakland would have rolled the Giants, IMO.

Ouuch. So true. That team was more well rounded than the 2002 team and Gannon could run so well at that time. So well. I thought Gannon had lost his wheels by 2002 (though the league didn't catch on until 2003). Wheatley was a beast that year. We had some toughness (and a dependable outlet) at the FB position with Jon Ritchie, Tim Brown was at his peak, very solid offensive line, etc. The defense had some flaws, but overall, it played solid ball and Charles Woodson & Grady Jackson were awesome football players at that time. Were William Thomas (what a big play LB'er he was) and Eric Allen on the team too?

Funny, I was just talking about the 2000 team in another thread.

Yes, Eric Allen and William Thomas were still with the team. So was Rod Coleman. So was Tory James. So were Greg Biekert and Eric Barton. Wisniekski, Kennedy, and Barrett Robbins were on that offensive line. Andre Rison gave us the first reasonably credible #2 receiver we'd had in years.

I liked that team a lot. A freakin' whole lot.
