The Sark to interview Monday

Although I said I thought it was maybe a year too early for Ryan. I don't have a problem going with a less experienced coach who may have some growing pains. I think with the right staff, FA and draft we can be competitive next year, but it is not going to kill us losing a game or two because of coaching inexperience. We should then be really well set up for 2008.

Interesting info on Sarkisian. The more I hear the more I want him on board in some capacity.

I think we can kiss Ryan goodbye after this season if we bring in Sarkisian as HC. I just can't see him sticking around if we give someone with even less experience the job.

Al needs to follow his own advice and take a chance on someone bright and young.

Can't recall just which coaching search it was(there've been so many it just like one 10 year long seach at this point), but in one interview he said he liked youth, cause it meant energy, and enthusiasm, and young guys had no fear.

Please Al, live the mantra!

Wouldn't mind alittle USC sparkle rubbing off on these Oakland aint's either...

You know, I guess we'll have to cross that bridge when we get there. That should be the least of our worries at this juncture, besides we have two capable replacements in Martindale and Millard plus a pretty damn good DB coach. I still say Ryan gets rewarded.

I agree. The organization has to do what right for the team long term...if getting a hot, young offensive minded coach in here is the way to go then fine. Rob Ryan will either stay or he'll go. Remember we were looking for a DC when we found Ryan. Life goes on. Apparently Ryan felt pretty good after his interview with Al yesterday. Maybe they talked about Assistant HC or something -- no idea. And then again maybe he'll get ht gig but I doubt it.

Couldn't have put it better myself. There's no way Davis gets up in front of all the players that just went to bat for Ryan and tries to 'splain how a college guy is more deserving of the gig than Ryan. Sorry, but the season would be over before it even starts.

Since there seems to be no sense of urgency in getting this thing done, I've really got to wonder if hiring a coach might be of secondary importance here. I'm almost starting to get the feeling that Davis is more committed to rounding up as many people as he can and picking their brains. It's almost like the longer he can put off IVing Ryan for the job, the more candidates he gets to interview and learn about. I guess that's just the Raider-way of doing things...

This thing with Miami and Pete Carroll could get interesting. Sarkasian might wind up in Miami if Carroll makes the jump.
