RAIDERS DUMP McNEAL

Following the lead of teams like the Bears, Jaguars, Saints, Bengals, and Steelers, all of which have dumped players who have gotten in trouble with the law, the Oakland Raiders have cut defensive end Bryant McNeal.

McNeal was arrested last week on outstanding warrants relating to charges of writing a bad check in South Carolina and defrauding a pawn broker in Florida.

The Raiders' official web site shows that McNeal was waived on July 11.

Although the Collective Bargaining Agreement states that players who engage in conduct detrimental to the team can be suspended without pay for a maximum of four weeks, the Standard Player Contract contemplates termination in the event that the player engages in off-field misbehavior.

07/12/2007 LB Kurt Campbell Waived

See ya Kurt!

The Bryant McNeil release is the single biggest non-surpise story in some time.

This dude wasn't going to make the squad anyway and his recent troubles made it a no brainer for Kiffin.

Looks like we re-signed Clemons, not sure why.

Adam Treu let go...

Raiders Release Adam Treu

July 24, 2007

The Oakland Raiders released Adam Treu. today.

Treu was a versatile offensive lineman who also served as snapper on field goals and place kicks. The former Nebraska star was the longest tenured player on the Raiders roster entering the 2007 campaign, with 10 years of NFL experience after being selected by the Silver and Black in the third round of the 1997 draft.

He played in 155 straight games for the Raiders before suffering an injury during the 2006 season.

The Oakland Raiders thank Adam for his decade of service to the success of the Raiders.

“In the excellence of The Oakland Raiders over the last 10 years, Adam certainly made an indelible contribution,” said Raiders Owner Al Davis.

Treu has been a great Raider throughout his career that included three consecutive American Football Conference Western Division titles (2000, 2001, 2002), two AFC Championship Game appearances (2000, 2002), a start in Super Bowl XXXVII, and involvement in the community.

Ouch... had to be done. Does this have anything to do with Newberry's knee's or just Adam's contract/injuries of late. Thanks for all the good years Adam!!

Good Luck Adam. Thanks for the blood and sweat. Once a Raider always a Raider.

Maybe they like what they've seen from Chris Morris?....

Boy, Langston and Treu both gone in one offseason.... The 'players that Crow pimps' jinx lives on!... :p

Gotta give it up to Treu... He did his job and he never complained once about anything that I can remember...

I guess they needed to clear up an extra $667,200 for Jamarcus.

The player that I mentioned some time ago that could long snap as well, Ben Claxton, I got that wrong. I was reading a few stories at once and mixed him up with Eddie Keele.

Next stop....Tampa.

Thanks for being a team player Adam and all the hard work.

A sad day, indeed!!

Adam was a consumate professional who NEVER bitched about contract, playing time or anything else in an era when EVERYONE bitches about those things. Best of Luck, Adam. You are a Raider Hall of Famer!!

The Raiders will go to training camp without Adam Treu, releasing the veteran center Tuesday with a statement that included a comment from Al Davis.

"In the excellence of the Oakland Raiders over the past 10 years, Adam certainly made an indelible contribution," Davis said.

One can quibble with how much excellence the Raiders were involved in during those 10 years _ they were winners three times _ but Treu was a consummate professional who was always at the ready as the backup center and was a quality long-snapper.

Treu joined the Raiders in 1997, having played through the tenures of Joe Bugel, Jon Gruden, Bill Callahan, Norv Turner and Art Shell.

With Treu gone, tackle Barry Sims and fullback Zack Crockett have been with the Raiders the longest, with both coming aboard in 1999.

Long-snappers currently on the roster include Jon Condo, who is strictly a snapper, and Chris Morris, who was drafted in the seventh round last season and is a reserve center.

Treu sustained a torn quadriceps last season, had surgery and said during minicamps he hoped to be ready to play by training camp.

Medianews Raiders beat writer Steve Corkran reports the Raiders also reached an injury settlement with wide receiver Jonathan Holland, a seventh-round draft pick who suffered a shoulder injury during his first minicamp.

Does this mean he's being released?
