the cause?

... of laughter!

How bad can things get in SD? lose your top 3 guys and then gain possibly the worst retread hc in the league.

Please don't screw up in the next 48 hours Norv. Lets hope Rex doesn't break and agree to hire Cotrell as his DC cause not hiring that guy as DC sounds like a show stopper for AJ Smith.

I refuse to believe it until it is signed and sealed.

hehehe...

Norval at head coach, twice fired in the last 5 years Cottrell at DC?...Is it too much to ask for that Norv somehow manages to get Jimmy Raye on staff as his OC?...

Going from the Raider hating with all his being Marty, to the milquetoast Norv can't be bad for us...

Bro, thats some serious fuckin ass

Holy fucking shit. I'm elated.

First they fire Marty, which was an imbecilic move.

Then they fail to keep Cameron, the architect of their high-scoring offense.

Then they hire the team-killer.

But hey, they're probably saving at least a few million $$s, right?

Somebody better get over to the SD board fast and remind all the bandwagon Dolt fans how hard they were laughing about our joke of a team when Norv was here.

I guess that might be considered trolling, though. But fuck 'em.

Almost a dream the way this off-season is unfolding.

I'm still looking forward to:

Dielman signing elsewhere
Kerney getting franchise tagged and thus kept out of Denver
Larry Johnson not signing a long-term extension
Alvis Whitted not being re-signed
Brooks getting kicked to the curb
Bowe sliding on draft day and still on the board for our 2nd round pick

With our luck we'd have already taken CJ with the #1.

Honestly Bowe would make me almost as happy. All the highlight reels I see of JaMarcus Russell look more like Dwayne Bowe highlight reels to me.

I'm just sayin'...

San Francisco 49ers offensive coordinator Norv Turner has agreed in principle to become the San Diego Chargers' next coach, sources told ESPN.com.

The Chargers are giving Norv Turner his third crack at being an NFL head coach. He's 58-82-1 with one playoff appearance in nine seasons leading an NFL team.

In addition to the Turner hiring, longtime league assistant coach Ted Cottrell will meet early this week with San Diego officials which should result in the Chargers hiring Cottrell as the club's new defensive coordinator.

I am buy everyone steak dinner tonight :) There IS a GOD!

Maybe firing Marty the way they did left a bad rep on them. Even with all those weapons, no coach likes the idea of being fired after a 14-2 season with a lineup you don't have full control or say in. If they could have got him to resign, they might have got better candidates. I even heard they contacted Mariucci and he declined an interview. Very telling I think.

The guy must have a different persona in the interview process...

Able to mesmerize with charisma and X's and O'a in the interview or something...

Or SD just fucked themselves.

WOOO HOO.

Norval will do fine with the Bolt Offense. It has a ton of character players and with so many weapons even Norval's "I know what you expect me to do, so I will do the opposite" Red-Zone offense will have a chance to succeed.

***Warning - Fantasy Football - All LT owners should expect a decrease in TD production and a subsequent increase in total points for Marcus McNeil.***

The real measuring stick for SD's success this next season will be the hiring of a quality DC and staff. The defensive unit is physically talented, mentally challenged and morally bankrupt. This unit could come off the tracks real quick, especially with the loss of its leader, Donnie Edwards.

The design should be great since they basically built on what Turner put in when he was OC there, but I have serious doubts about his ability to operate as both head coach and playcaller... The OC they bumped up from RB coach has no playcalling experience from what I understand...

I agree with this... since it appears it'll be Ted Cottrell, I'd call this a huge net loss as well... Wade Phillips was a pain in the ass when it came to getting his guys in mismatches... I'm almost as glad to see him out of our division as I am to see that sumbitch Marty gonzo...

All in all there is a huge drop in motivational skills from Marty to Norv and scheming skills from Phillips to Cottrell... I have a couple of friends in Oceanside that are pratically suicidal over this :D

Looks to me like this is an AJ Smith hire. He probably saw the same thing Jerry Jones saw, that Davis saw, and that Snyder saw. A lame assed puppet who'll do whatever he's told.

This move reaks of the Bill Callahan hire. If the vet players on that team can coach the team from the field (like Gannon and Woodson and Brown and Rice and Romo and Kennedy and Wisnewski did), then Turner will be smart to stay out of the way... I just don't know if the Chargers collectively have enough experience to pull that off.

... but if Turner tries to actually coach the team himself, like Callahan did in his 2nd year... :D

All in all it was a damn good Monday...

I just realized that this also screws the Niners as well...

This just gets better and better...

I'm thinking a nice off field incident involving Merriman would be just what the doctor ordered:D

Norv has inherited a pretty stellar line up but as So Cal alluded to, they're a pretty young bunch with a void in the veteran leadership dep't. I don't see LT as that guy and NorvAJ is the antithesis of Marty. What a fuggin mess for Dolt fans. Just as the draft success will lay at the feet of AJ Smith, so will the end result of what transpired these past few weeks.
