Starting with my 3

Tony Gonzalez!
Eric Steinbach!
Adrian Peterson!

reasons will be given in the coming months.

I don't think that list requires much explanation!

I'm hoping not... I keep dreaming up scenarios to jump up and get Jake Long/Alan Branch but they dont seem to be working well.

I'd rather not drop the coin it would take to get TonyG, to be honest. That's going to be a $30m -- $40m contract, no matter how you slice it. I'd rather take that money and spread it out between another backup OG and a right tackle (Runyan, Tre Thomas, Flozell Adams).

Steinbach's going to cash in big in FA and I really don't see why he would want to come to Oakland and be part of a rebuilding process unless we overpaid for him (see Steve Hutchinson). Hutch's contract is seriously going to inflate Steinbach's value. That's not to say he isn't a damned good LG, because IMO he's top-5 in the NFL at that position. But he's young, still improving, and looking to get paid. Be prepared for a 6-yr. deal somewhere in the neighborhood of $45m. I would expect Dallas, Miami, Denver, New Orleans, and Detroit to all have serious interest in him. He'd be my #1 priority in FA this year.

Peterson? Sign me up!

I have to agree with RNat on Gonzalez. Gonzalez, like Randy Moss, is a finishing piece. He is the kind of player you spend big bucks on, to come into a good solid offense and make it spectacular.

This offense is about two seasons away from being good and solid. If the front office can bring in one or two excellent core offensive players over this offseason, I would be thrilled.

Steinbach certainly fits that profile. I would also be happy with Gandy, Starks, Dielman or Manuwai as well.

A great running back would be maturing into his prime two to three seasons from now. In that regard Peterson would be a great pick.

Gonzo, Kris Deilman and Alan Branch would get it done for me....

Reality says that overpaying for Eric Johnson, overpaying for Leonard Davis and drafting Calvin Johnson is the more likely occurance... We haven't exactly done ourself a lot of favors this year as far as being an attractive landing place for free agents....

Yeah even though Gonzo has West Coast roots, I don't see him coming to Oakland anytime soon. My gut is that he will re-sign with KC or go to a SB contender.

OL If Steinbach is out of our price range, I'd opt for Ryan Lilja, Manuwai, Leonard Davis or Runyan. I agree with HB though that there most likely will be bidding wars for this years crop of OL as it is somewhat thin.

Draftwise AP, Kyle Young and/or Zach Miller would work for me. I'm officially on the Zach Miller jihad assuming we don't sign Eric Johnson in the offseason.

Yep that's the scary part.

``Hmmmm I can go to New England, NY Giants, Dallas, Cincinnat, San Diego or OAKLAND. Let me think about it for a minute. I'll get back to you".

D'oh.

I'm not expecting any big ticket items. I bet it looks something like Tully Banta-Cain and Musa Smith. Guys like Steinbach and Gonzo usually sign within 48 hours and those players usually don't have us at the top of their visit list.

I just read Eric Johnson is out 2 to 3 weeks with a knee problem. I hope we don't sign the guy cause he's always banged up and missing games.

I am not sure what to make of Miller, he seems like a decent receiver, but holds a lot when blocking.

As far as us not being a good solid team or not, we may need to see how these next 5 weeks pan out. It is entirely possible that Shoop running things could turn this show around and make Oakland an attractive place again.

Steinbach for LG - Yes
L Davis for RT - Yes
Drafting Peterson/Lynch - Yes
Drafting Z Miller as a receiving TE - Yes
Daniel Graham as a blocking TE - Yes

Hell, just the first two could make all the difference in the world to the team.

I'd overpay for Steinbach for 2 reasons...

1. He is a better G then steve hutch in my eyes
2. He would instantly improve Gallerys play as well as his own. Mostly due to familiarity.

As for Tony G... I think he would love to be a raider. Honest. Money wouldnt be much of an issue as the cap is going up significantly and we really dont have a lot of fat contracts that cant or wont be redone (Porter, Sapp, Moss, Sims, Gallery are the contracts that carry the most weight. Sims will be gone, Porter likely as well, Moss will be redone or gone, and Sapp we can carry. Gallery would take less if we sign steiny... i guarantee it.)

Id like a Daniel Graham or drafted TE to play behind Tony G... Thing is I think we are an offense away from competing... Moss, AP, Tony G = even with Brooks or AWAL thats an offense. Its the line thats killing us. Jake Long I hope is a faller... If he is within shitting distance of our second rounder I'd give up a ton to move up to get him.

If Jake Long and Sam Baker declare then I think Levi Brown could find himself still on the board when our 2nd is on the clock. Last year only 1 tackle went in the 1st round. Brown seems like a guy who could get hit with the "he's a RT at the next level" label and fall because of it.

We're going to need a good RT to protect the blind side of our new left handed QB;) Seriously, I don't see an OL in the first few rounds unless we stockpile some additional picks through trades.

OT, does anyone know if we get any compensation for Chaz?

Should be a third, since we didn't pick up anyone to replace him that is at his level.

I think Al will splash and spend the cashbox this offseason.

He's one season closer to a dirt nap, and he recognizes that this D is plenty good enough.

Adrian Peterson- I really think he's the old school type of Raider RB. Tall, fast and runs hard with great straight to the point moves. I'm all Jihad for trading up to get him if he doesnt fall to us.

APete would improve our offense the fastest. I don't want any lineman before the 4th round. Get me some proven vets out there, please.

the only OL I'd want to draft is Jake Long... and thats because hes just a stud at RT. And he could provide Gallery Insurance for injury or if he doesnt work out in the long run. If we can pick up a lineman of his caliber then we do so.

Other then that we dont take any early round OL. AP is my #1 target by far... In fact I'd be willing to sacrifice every draft pick we have + porter to get AP, Branch, and Long. I doubt we'd have enough ammo to pull that off but it would improve our team 100 fold.
