The Not Too Early 2026 NFL Draft Thread

Another @uscfb player was visiting the @Raiders yesterday: long snapper Hank Pepper.

After Jacob Bobenmeyer manned that position for 3 years, Las Vegas is going in a different direction.

Currently the only long snapper on the team is Alex Ward on a reserve/futures contract.

A few things we’re seeing from the respected media guys:

- Rodriguez is firmly over Allen
- Anthony Hill isn’t anywhere close to R1
- Omar Cooper is fringe 20
- Faulk is Top 20
- Iheanachor is going in the 1st
- Ponds is getting mad love
- Thienaman is beloved
- Howell has dropped from teens to 30s
- Tate is WR1, Lemon WR2 both Top 15.
- Tyson is impacted by availability concern.

Bech and Thornton seemingly are the biggest let downs in the class. Given that they did not see the field much, one can assume they didn’t practice well. Regardless, the Y2 offseason often tells the story for a WR. If they have not worked on their exposed deficiencies this offseason, then they are fools. This year’s their best shot at a good first impression with a new staff. Tucker apparently has not wasted it.
I wouldn't assume anything about what these showed in practice. That coaching staff was just dumb. These guys all get passes for that year. If they suck this year, that's another story.

Former Florida State QB Tommy Castellanos has drawn interest ahead of the NFL Draft as a quarterback — and a slot receiver.

Castellanos, who also played at UCF and BC, did WR drills at the end of his pro day and is training at both positions.

We’re in for a wild ride in Round 1 with how these offensive tackles could come off of the board. I’ve never seen this many split opinions on how evaluators view them.

Yet, it appears unanimous that over-drafting seven OT is the best use of T30 draft capital this year.

Several teams have red-flagged the combine medicals of Tennessee CB Jermod McCoy, per @TonyPauline

“I’m told that red flags were raised after teams deemed McCoy’s knee to be a degenerative condition.“

If your name is Tommy Castellanos and you're even asked to do drills at another position, QB drills probably aren't necessary.

Getting my notes organized for next week, so some random thoughts here and there are expected.

Bud Clark (TCU - SAF) is seriously under discussed.

Underrated storyline this year is we are now seeing the first wave of college linebackers to get drafted that spent multiple years wearing a green dot.

Those didn't exist in college until 2024. Helps to see now which guys wearing the dot can actually direct the traffic.

Even among all the other elite LBs in this class, watch the way Kyle Louis goes through this drill vs everyone else. Moves like a 220lb nickel.

Louis is first up. Reese is 20. J-Rod is 21. Styles is 25.

This might be common knowledge, and it might be new information for some of my followers, but generally speaking the more 30 visits a player has pre-draft the more questions there are about that player.
