The Not Too Early 2025 Draft Thread

I am no fan of Sanders's personality but take the damn swing. If it fails, draft another guy in two years.

This stuff isn't complicated. Rookie contracts have changed the equation. There are no Russell-level contracts to hold us hostage.

Some guy on Raiders Reddit was arguing to avoid the top pick because Russell failed. Fortunately, everyone else jumped on him but imagine that thought process. Avoid a #1 QB because it failed once. Russell's failure didn't set us back for ten years. Refusing to learn from the process did that.

Fuck if we avoided a position because it failed once in round one we couldnt draft anyone.

We’ve done a darn good job of it since we drafted Russell. So typical of this group of idiots.

Daniels didn't become a top pick until his 5th year of college. You're not comparing apples to apples here. Hell, Milroe at 21 is a better prospect than Daniels was at 21. The question will be, where will Milroe be in two years? I'm not drafting Milroe ONLY because of who he is today, I'm drafting him for who I think he can develop into.

I’m comparing two guys in their likely last year of college that both faced some questions about whether their passing game would translate to the NFL. Daniels at least had the benefit of dominating for a season at the college level. It’s unfortunate that we don’t have that extra year with Milroe but we can only go off what’s available and right now he wouldn’t sniff the first round as a passer. He’s like the 30th ranked passer in the NCAA. Hurts is another common comp and he lead the NCAA in passing TDs iirc. Milroe is a lesser version of pretty much every comp other than maybe Richardson. He’s a break glass in case of emergency option for me right now.

just draft a quarterback...

We haven't tried a first round long snapper.

Milroe upside is exciting he can do shit nobody else can in this class.

But fuck he throws an ugly football most of the time. Like a Anthony Richardson esque.

I’d still draft him so I don’t ever have to hear about Aidan O’Connell again but he might be a couple year project.

Drew Allar is my version of other guys Nuss or Rourke. I like his upside more than I should.
I was a Richardson guy too but Milroe is quite a bit more accurate IMO. Richardson had the cannon though. I think worst case Milroe turns into like a Justin Fields type 'bust'. I think when the process is all done I'll have Milroe higher than most but I also am huge on 'what can this guy turn into?' more than 'what is he now?'

Good post I get it.

He just has some completely dog shit basic passes and then he will rope one down field to Williams to get my chubber ready again haha.

A risky one but fun prospect.

Hunter going #1 overall due to lack of truly great QBs in this draft.

His former high school coach:

Gregory has been fielding calls over the past few months from NFL teams about Hunter, who is almost a lock to be a top-five pick in the 2025 draft. The coach has made it clear to anyone who asks that as long as Hunter stays healthy, nothing is stopping him.

“I think the kid could play both ways in the NFL,” he said. “He’s the best skill kid I’ve ever coached or I’ve ever been around that I’ve been able to work with. And I coached in the Under Armour (high school All-America) game, like, seven times. So I’ve seen NFL guys and I’ve seen a lot. But I’ve never seen anybody like him as a skill player.”

That would be good for us.

Of the presumed top 3 QBs as of today, one will likely be out of our reach, the other has all kinds of red flags that probably get amplified playing in Vegas, and the 3rd needs to go to a stable organization with the ability to bring him along slowly.

TL;DR - We’re fucked.

Also, Nussmier is my early 3rd at this point. Which is unfortunate for him, but I think he’s going to be someone that climbs big time post season assuming he doesn’t fall on his face.

Still early for the QB evals. Need to see who ends up rising to the equation. Several of these guys will be playing in the 12 team playoffs this year too so we should get a real good look at them in pressure situation.

Good point.

In essence, their development is still on-going.

It's premature to write off anyone, yet, especially those who will be in the college playoffs.
