We worked out Doug Jolley and OJ Santiago today per rotoworld. looks like revenge of the former raiders... I'd bring doug back in a heartbeat though.

So we just flush one of the turds from that 2002 draft class and another floats back to the top....

Miller, Madsen, & Jolley would be the whitest TE trio in history...

LOL...

Al's making a nice little side business of trading these turds for draft choices and picking them back up off the street later :D

I still don't uderstand what exactly happened to Jolly... he flashed some pretty good stuff early...

Isn't it really the mauler type TE that we're missing now though?

Schefter...

BLASTS FROM THE PAST

Back in 2002, the Raiders used their second-round pick on Brigham Young tight end Doug Jolley, who never caught more than 32 passes in a season for Oakland.

Doug Jolley started 13 games for the Raiders in 2004.

The Raiders used Jolley to trade for the Jets' first-round draft pick in 2005, before the tight end spent last season in Tampa Bay with former Oakland head coach Jon Gruden.

But now that Jolley is free and the Raiders have another need at tight end -- Oakland tight end Fred Wakefield blew out his knee in a non-contract drill during practice Monday -- the two sides are talking again. The Raiders visited with Jolley on Tuesday, and he wasn't the only former Raider in Oakland.

The Raiders also visited with veteran tight end O.J. Santiago, who spent 2003-2005 in Oakland.

Oakland needs help at tight end -- again. It seems it usually does. This year's second-round pick, Zach Miller, will provide some. But Miller is more of a receiver. Oakland still needs a blocker. And it is now in search of one.

That's funny, I could have sworn that I read somewhere that he was the most complete TE coming out of the draft

Complete... most certainly. However his blocking is more in tune with being a TE then an extra Tackle on the field. Wakefield was a mauler and thats the kind of TE we dont have now. Stewart is close but not quite.

Zach's blocking was (is) underrated coming out of ASU.

The size, desire and technique is there for him to be a solid blocker...And to be honest, that's all I want out of our #1 TE. As long as he catches TD's runs good routes and is a good target, I'll save the meaty blocking for Santiago and Wakefield.

We signed Santiago and he was at training camp today.

That's the right choice. Jolley has no place on this team with Miller, Madsen, and whatever other converted WRs we have running around. We needed another blocker.

Fodder ! We will have Miller Madsen and Stewart when the season begins.....the rest of these guys are just blocking dummies with a heart beat...............uh I think my wife calls me that?
