Hey man, any of you cats got the skinny on any potential sup draft entree's?

Julys coming up, figure with the high pick, and someone wanna do the Nips a solid and drop the rules on the Sup again? Top 5 teams lotto? Just turned 42 on draft day, I'm losing my fuckin eyesight, cant remember shit anymore...

I hear Paul Oliver the CB from Georgia is entering.. Anyone else got the scoop on anybody else?

I'm thinking it sure would have been cool if Russell had stayed in school and then had something happen that forced him into the supp draft. Then we could have taken CJ in April and Russell in July.

How does the salary structure typically work for Sup. draft players?

id blow a 2nd on oliver. hes a monster at CB and I'm nearly sure we'd get him for a 2nd. He's a first rounder next year if he came out. and hed be the 4th CB off the board in this draft.

Not my ideal scenario, but we have to remember that Aso might not be a Raider next year...It could be worth the risk. (Lord knows Ahmad Brooks would have been)

Oliver is well worth a two, and I like him more that Ross who will be a 25 year old rookie, and Houston who is a big time work out warrior with decent game.

He's no Leon Hall or Darrelle Revis, but he's good.

He is talented but I would rather keep our second rounder because this asshole cant even go to class. He cant even go to summer school he failed so bad. I would give up a 4th maybe if he is that talented, but he already blew one great chance not alot of people are lucky enough to get. I could see him doing the same thing again. Besides Aso is getting locked up i can feel it. Fabs is a very nice player who seems to be getting better and better, and I really think Routte can be a starter one day too. He showed some nice football skills to match up with that freakish speed. He should earn that nickel slot or at least bump Fabian into it if he cant play the spot. Obviously not play over Fabs just bump him down in nickel and dime coverages.

Who was the last successful player to come out in the Supp draft? I remember Manny Wright and Tony Hollings being hyped to no end before the Supp draft.

I'd be pissed if we dropped a first or second in the Supp Draft. I might be pissed if we dropped a third, even.

Worse case scenario is that we tag Aso for a year but I think we'll be able to work out a long term extension. I really think he wants to be here. You know how Al loves his corners. :D No way in hell do I want to burn that #2 on another db at this point.

I do agree with 007 on Brooks though.

Asomugha wants to be here now. But I'm sure he wants to get paid too. i worry about him bolting for some serious payday with the ridiculous CB contracts out there. IMO no CB deserves to make more than 8 million a year. Than champ bailey deal as the beginning of the end IMO.

rethinking it in terms of next years draft (which is semi loaded) and the fact its probably still going to be a top pick rather then a mid to late... and that we dont have a 3rd due to mario.... make that a 4th rounder.

The supplemental draft has never really been a great way to build a team. The "Supplemental Draftee Hall of Fame" is pretty mediocre.

Well, if more guys with 1st or 2nd round talent started bypassing the regular draft and entering the supp draft then we'd see a lot more supp draft success stories. Its pretty rare that a talented Junior decides to stay in school but then a few months later has something happen that forces him to go the supp draft route.

Whats surprises me in hindsight is this kids decision to stay in school. I would think the normal tendency if your flunking is to go pro.

I can think of Kosar... not really any other great ones, although I'm sure there are.

A source has told us that University of Maryland offensive tackle Jared Gaither is leaning towards entering the supplemental draft.

DD.com Comment: This news story has not been reported by the media, but we trust our source. It is no secret to anyone that follows college football closely that Gaither has struggled academically at Maryland. So, at the very least, we have to believe the talented Gaither is seriously thinking about jumping to N.F.L. We thank our source for the potential scope.

He would fetch a 2nd round pick from some team im sure. He has top 15 talent. Cant believe some of these guys letting their grades go with such bright future's.

...for the potential scope?

scoop?

Anyway.. if he's too stupid to slide by in college, then he's too stupid to play on my team. But, that's just me.

True. O-linemen need to be smart these days.

Bernie Kosar.... Jamal Williams...

What you're saying is that the odds are pretty damned low that anybody actually worth a shit is available in the Supp draft on a year to year basis.

Yeah, if we give up a day one pick, I'll be pissed.

Not that Im advocating mortgaging even more draft picks, but there are some success stories in the list of all supp. draft players...

I think the list ends up looking like about a 1 in 3 chance of getting a solid player, and a 1 in 10 chance of hitting on a big time Pro Bowl type.

If Oliver grades out as well as Im hearing, (Sort of like Ahmad Brooks did) I assume someone will pull the trigger on an early pick for him.

Kosar (Pro Bowl 11 yr career)
Bosworth (started out well...)
Bobby Humphrey (Started out a Pro Bowler)
Cris Carter (Top 10 all time Wide receiver
Jamal Williams (The best NT in the game, IMO)
Rob Moore, (2 Pro Bowls, 10+ years)
Mike Wahle (Pro Bowl)
Ahmad Brooks (Looks great, is only 22.)

There are some definite success stories, for sure and I don't think giving up a second or fourth rounder for Oliver would be a 'head scratcher' type move. More like a solid business decision based on talent, age and cost.
