So, not a huge fan, but I do plan on seeing the new flick. Just as a warning, and I assume if you're a die hard fan you should already know. Stay off Reddit, IG, Facebook. Basically social media until you see it. Just had it spoiled for me. FML.

Sorry dude. I'm tempted to ask what you heard, but I'm not gonna.

I'm hoping this movie kicks ass. But I made the mistake of watching the trailers & listening to ideas about the plot on YouTube... I'm not sure if what was discussed is actually gonna happen, but it seems to fit with the trailers, & the whole thing just sounds like a rehash of the first trilogy, with nothing really new or original.

My dad got me hooked on the original Star Wars trilogy when I was a little kid, probably more than he intended [NERD!]

I was 11 when The Phantom Menace came out, & I was super fucking pumped for it. Then I watched it & didn't understand what the hell was happening. At the time, I thought maybe I didn't "get it." But looking back, it was just a terrible, god-awful movie. Same with episodes II & III.

After the abortion that was the prequels, my enthusiasm for anything Star Wars has been pretty low. So yeah, hopefully the movie hasn't already been spoiled for me & hopefully it's more than just "OK"...
 
Disney will rape this franchise for every last cent, it will be left without any dignity, and everybody will sing a song about the good ole days.

I've read through a very detailed synopsis, after I saw the huge spoiler, and have read several reviews both with and without spoilers. I did not really like any of the prequels, I've only seen them all once, that's a pretty good indicator you didn't really like a movie lol. From what I know and based on how good the new Star Treks have been, this movie is really good and it sounds as if Abrams is Definately using nostalgia from the original three to bring all us older folks back to our childhoods and really sell the younger fans on a new set of heroes/villains. I think it's gonna be pretty bad ass. Anyone who sees it PM me or throw a review on here. I won't see it for a week or two.

Having watched movie last night i will tell you i thought it was a great movie and i wont spoil things but this film did what most 1st films in trilogies do and set up a ton of the story for the up coming films. I saw a ton of parallels between the originals and this film but i still feel it held up well on its own.

She pretty much made that show.

Just never watched the Star Trek remakes and ever felt like I was watching a real Star Trek movie. Felt like fan fiction with a Michael Bay budget.

I'm almost relieved to read this new Star Wars movie is ripping off, and purposefully nodding towards, the original trilogy. Seems like a good blueprint.

Then again, that's kinda what they did with the Trek flicks and I couldn't sit through either one a second time.

Saw it last night and enjoyed it a lot.

I'm sure it'll get over analyzed and picked apart but it was a good movie IMO.

I'm gonna withhold judgment until I see it. But I see a potential problem with this new triology: the first movie can probably be good based mostly on nostalgia & fan-service. But that's not gonna last into movies 2 & 3. You've actually got to have good characters & a good story.

No spoilers, but I think they did a good job setting up the next two. I'm curious what the response to the Kylo Ren character is going to be.
 
I think there's only going to be 2 movies, unless something has changed.
