I haven't seen the series yet. Worth the watch?
I enjoyed it. Some fan servicey stuff you probably won't like but overall a fun, small stakes show, IMO.

The reviews say that it’s basically three episodes rolled into a movie. Sounds like it was unnecessary.I enjoyed it. Some fan servicey stuff you probably won't like but overall a fun, small stakes show, IMO.

Without spoiling, did it set up future episodes or movies?Sure, it's small stakes and nobody should go in expecting Rogue One. My biggest beef was Rotta's voice and having him speak perfect English for a Hutt and a bit of Jack Black movie style cheesiness at times, but I think it's something kids will enjoy. Even Grogu started growing on me a little bit towards the end.

So basically a cash grab? We haven’t released a Star Wars movie in a while so let’s just do this. Not at all. That was the one thing I was hoping for going in since I didn't really have high expectations.
I don't want to oversell it or anything, but I thought it was a fun movie.
Unnecessary is a fair critique though. It really didn't have any impact on anything outside of the Mandoverse. I could see it tying into the Ahsoka/Thrawn storyline at some point but nothing happened in this movie as far as obvious connections go.

“Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu” earned just $6.5 million on its second Friday in North American cinemas, an 70% drop from its opening day.
While initial projections saw the Lucasfilm western grossing $40 million by Sunday, that number now looks closer to $25 million, according to rival estimates. That figure would push the film’s domestic total to $136 million through two weekends.
Yes and yes. While it's not necessary for the big screen, you do get to see things that probably get a little fuzzy on a small screen. Nothing that will take away from the overall story, but just some tidbits that add some worldbuilding.Did anyone see Operation Hail Mary in the theaters and was it worth going for the big screen?
I fancy myself a pretty big Star Wars fan, but this will be the first film that I’m not going to see in the theaters. Disney got drunk with power. The only recent truly profitable movies have been Lilo and Stitch and the Minecraft movie. I think the days of the non epic blockbuster type movies in the theater is on life support.
This one, while fun, should have never been a theater release. It just wasn't that type of cinema. Even the marketing was pretty minimal by SWs standards. I'm guessing they'll get their money when you factor in the merchandise sales though.
