‘The Acolyte’ Canceled: No Season 2 For Disney+’s ‘Star Wars’ Series
The story of The Acolyte will not continue, with LucasFilm opting not to proceed with Season 2 of the Star Wars offshoot starring Amandla Stenberg.deadline.com
I’m pretty surprised. It would have been better just replacing Headland and giving it another season to wrap things up rather than just leaving things up in the air like this, especially when they’re dealing with legacy characters. Disney needs to die with Hondo.
Looks like Ahsoka got renewed, though. Of the two, which would you have wanted to see continue?
Ahsoka is a better, more interesting show for me but I doubt it was ever in danger. That’s basically Filoni’s baby and iirc they’re planning on adapting it to a future movie.
The Acolyte wasn’t that great but it had some pretty big implications that would be left unresolved.
They slipped bonus episodes of The Mandalorian into Boba Fett's show, so there's precedent for a possible way to tie up those loose ends. Or maybe they'll try to Jedi mind trick everyone into forgetting that stuff ever happened. 🤷🏻
This would hurt my heart if I hadn't already given up on Star Wars completely.Maybe they’ll bring JJ Abrams in

Yes, it's the fans' fault.

Amandla Stenberg says ‘THE ACOLYTE’ getting canceled is “not a huge shock” due to the extreme vitriol from Star Wars fans.
“There has been a rampage of vitriol that we have faced since the show was even announced… a rampage of, I would say, hyper-conservative bigotry and vitriol, prejudice, hatred and hateful language towards us.”
She adds, “it has been an incredible honor and dream for me to be in this universe” and the audiences who did watch the show “were deeply loved and appreciated, and it made this job all the worthwhile for me.”
