Looks like we draft at 5 from what I understand of the tie breakers:

• Strength of schedule for the previous season is the first tie-breaker for teams with the same winning percentage.

• Divisional and conference records are the next step in the tie-breaking procedure.

• As a last resort, a coin toss is used to determine the order of selection for teams with the same winning percentage.

Looks like we should have been rooting for the Chiefs...

This defense is so f'n un predictable it's hard sometimes to put a finger on what to draft. If this defense plays the way it did today by stomping LT in the ass, then draft offense.. But my gut tells me they may have looked good today but it maybe mirrors

(8:15 PM): Picks 3-5 to go to flip… This is still very unofficial, but it appears that the 3rd, 4th and 5th picks at the 2008 draft will have to be decided by a coin flip or flips. Again, by our very unofficial calculation, Atlanta, Oakland and Kansas City finished the year tied for that spot as the combined winning percentage for each team’s 16 opponents this fall was .516. Kansas City does win the tie-breaker Oakland and will pick ahead of the Raiders. The teams split their two games this season and had the same divisional record, but Kansas City had a worse record within the conference. There are no draft tie-breakers between Atlanta and either of the two AFC West teams. The logical resolution would be for Atlanta to flip with Kansas City for the 3rd pick and then flip with Oakland for the 4th if the Falcons lost the initial flip but that is just speculation on our part. Stay tune as we’ll try and follow-up. Meanwhile, with their overtime win over the Chiefs, the Jets drop from the third pick to the 6th, followed by New England with that pck acquired from San Francisco and Baltimore. From the way I understand it we have one more conference win than the Chiefs and ATL, which is the second tie breaker:

1. Miami
2. St Louis
3. Coinflip between KC and ATL
4. Coinflip between KC and ATL
5. Oakland
6. NY Jets


It's going to be interesting to see what Parcells does at 1 because I don't know if they are sold on Beck as their QBOTF.... Rams fans seem to really want Chris Long... I would think ATL would give a hard look at getting a QB like Matt Ryan in as the new face of their franchise after the Vick fiasco...

I didn't think that Titans-Indy game had any bearing on us since KC/ATL/OAK all played both teams and the Jets opponents already have one more win than that of Atl/KC/Oak...

First tiebreaker after strength of schedule is divison record, next would be conference record... Raider have one more conference victory than do ATL and KC... I hope I'm wrong, but I think we're locked in at 5 with KC-Atl needing to go to the next tie breaker which is the coin flip....

The Falcons will select third in the 2008 NFL draft, getting the pick in the third-tiebreaker between four teams. Miami (1-15) and St. Louis (3-13) will make the first two picks.

The Falcons, Oakland, Kansas City and the New York Jets all finished at 4-12. The Falcons, Raiders and Chiefs had identical strengths of schedule, the first tie-breaker. The Raiders and Chiefs split their two meetings, the second tie-breaker, and neither played the Falcons. The Falcons won the third tie-breaker, division record, by going 1-5 in the NFC South as the Raiders and Chiefs were both 2-4 in the AFC West. The tiebreaker between the Raiders and Chiefs was broken by virtue of the Raiders having a worse record among common opponents, the fourth tie-breaker.
