I was never into Seinfeld in the first place but it didn’t help that most of the people I knew that liked it were super pretentious. Regarding Always Sunny, Curb Your Enthusiasm, etc., they almost seem too sophisticated to be considered simple sitcoms IMO. Excellent shows but the definitely don’t fall into that cheesy, formulaic, but endearing category of a Cheers and such.

agree. I probably shouldn't be playing this game because I mostly have not cared for the genre. Once I feel the formula the switch goes off.

That's part of the charm for me. Simpler era with simpler media. Today's top level stuff is so different in a good way, it's like comparing sports eras. Content wise Always Sunny, The Office, Modern Family, etc. are light years better than those old sitcoms but there was just something about them that is timeless.
