Sitcom Discussion

This isn't the "I didn't see it" thread, but am I the only one who's never seen a single episode of Doogie Howser?

I’m pretty sure I saw one or two but it wasn’t on rotation for sure.

As a teen in the 80's, I really enjoyed Charles in Charge.

Seinfeld is polarizing for sure.

I'm a die hard fan but I completely get why people hate it as well or never got into it haha.

Cheers would be up at the top for me. Growing up as a kid it was must see tv lol.

I'm gonna say fuck all y'all and slap Cobra Kai on whatever GOAT sitcom list you have goin. Maybe not yet but when we are Bonesy old it will be revered.

Its Always Sunny
Curb Your Enthusiasm

Those two make my short list.

The Cosby Show still has to be mentioned among the most iconic sitcoms ever.

Would anyone rank shows like Growing Pains or Family Ties in their top 10? They were undeniably staples of their era.

My grandparents loved the Cosby show. I couldn’t stand Rudy. I actually liked the spin-off better.

I’m too lazy to do a top 10 but Family Ties and Growing Pains were definitely ones I watched (Alyssa Milano duh?!?).

I dont know that I put them in a top ten. Shows you could remember fondly and stack on a bigger list for sure.

I was never into Seinfeld in the first place but it didn’t help that most of the people I knew that liked it were super pretentious. Regarding Always Sunny, Curb Your Enthusiasm, etc., they almost seem too sophisticated to be considered simple sitcoms IMO. Excellent shows but the definitely don’t fall into that cheesy, formulaic, but endearing category of a Cheers and such.

They're definitely strengthened by nostalgia. Growing up watching those shows weekly and the black & white '50s & '60s sitcoms every night on Nick @ Nite (and later TV Land) gives them an inflated feeling of value, but they still warrant mention.
