The cap numbers have been released, the Raiders have about 14 mill in room for next year.

Quick question:

Anyone know if that number includes roster bonuses due? Specifically, we have 9.533 mill in roster bonuses due to Sims and Brooks in March.

Wondering if we actually have 24 mill in cap room.

We do have a ton of cap room (20+ million after some easy cuts)

The only issue is every other team does, so this place is definitely going to seem less desirable.

In all sincerity, there aren't a ton of attractive guys out there, and and much as it'd hurt, I'd rather see us sit out FA than overpay some stiff just because he's lucky enough to have his deal come up.

What I might like to see is us convert some future earnings into roster bonuses, saving money down the road. Or re-sign guys, and put as much of the money on next years cap as possible. Scrabble comes immediately to mind.

Its not my money.

I don't honestly care if we shell out 20+ million in guarantees to Steinbach or Leonard Davis...We need those types of players.

I hope we open up the pocket book and spend on good players, personally.

Me too...I want a big FA to come here...who exactly...I dont know yet

An O-Lineman. Dielman would be a great steal from the Dolts. Steinbach, B.waters, L.Davis, M.Starks, any of those guys.

The real question is, "do the Raiders HAVE the money"?

I think depending on what we do with some of our higher paid guys, i.e. Moss, LJ, Brooks, we'll have some decent cap room but I don't think we're going to get into a bidding war for some of these higher priced FA's. I think we'll bring some players in but not the top tier guys. Hopefully an OL or two.

I'm not talking about cap room I'm wondering if Al Davis has the cash. Considering there were rumors he was having a hard time coming up with te cash to pay off the 31% he acquired last year. I just don't know how much money Al has. He's always complaining about being unable to compete because of the terrible stadium situation etc....just sayin'.

Plus he has another $2 Million in dead cash he has to pay to Fat Albert...yikes. Let's put it this way: ``Al, you're no Paul Allen".

Agreed. It's not my money and I drop a bunch of bank on Raider games regardless of who we sign (or don't) as free agents.

If Lane Kiffin is going to have any chance at success, this offensive line MUST improve. You can only scheme your way around a piss poor offensive line so much. I still maintain that too much was made of Tom Walsh and the scheme but I digress.

This Oline is a mess and has been since the 2002 SB debacle. I have no problem "overpaying" for solid veteran offensive lineman. I've seen nothing from Gallery, Grove, etc that makes me assume that they will suddenly blossum in 2007.

Nothing.
