I mentioned it in the Q Moses thread but thats getting a bit long... We've got a lot of role players on our team... And that's probably a good thing.

Run Stuffing DT - Terd
Pass rushing DT - Sapp
Play Hard DE - Brayton
Pass Rushing DE - Burgess/Moses(hopefully)
Nickel DB - Cooper (huff covering the slot)
Rotational DL(play multiple positions) - Huntley, Hawthorne, Kelly, Richardson
Do-All LB - Thomas
Short yardage Back - Crockett (if he sticks), Bush
Speed Back - Fargas
Do-alls - Rhodes, Jordan
Multi-tooled FB - Griffith
Hard nosed FB - O'Neal
Hard Hitter SS - Frampton
Slot WR - Higgins/Curry
Blocking TE - Stewart/Wakefield
Recieving TE - Madsen
Doall TE - Miller

and thats outside of ST packages

For me, I think we will carry seven wideouts, especially with Porter being in the last year of his contract. In my opinion, we carry Porter, Curry, Williams, Higgins, Taylor, Buchanon, and Morant.

I like Buchanon better than Gabriel and I think Kiffin might too. Taking out the USC connection, Gabriel may be a little too inconsistent for Kiffin. Last preseason, Buchanon kind of impressed me. He worked his way back to the LOS when our QB was in trouble, he remembered to tap his feet when near the sideline, and showed good hands. He has the height and is very fast. If they are equal right now, Buchanon holds the biggest upside. Maybe the Packers will be interested in a trade for Gabriel?

I didn't like Mike Williams as the number ten pick in the draft for us because of questions about his attitude. In my opinion, I think failing like he did in Detroit changed his attitude. Acquiring him like we did makes me happy and I think he will be good for us. He has taken some of the blame for what went wrong, he showed up in Alameda the day after the trade, he appeared to be in good shape in minicamp, and from reports, he appeared to have a great half a day of camp.

It will be interesting how a younger receivers coach will relate with the players, mostly Morant. Maybe now he will better understand the playbook.

One battle I am interested in is the one for the third TE. In my opinion, I think when told Courtney to find a trade partner, they have been hoping to light a fire under him. For me though, I like to see who wins out between Adkisson and Madsen.

Both players had injuries in college. Both players have size. Adkisson ran a 4.34/40 ..most likely a little slower now with the increased bulk. Madsen is a little slower. Both have good hands and both seem to have the right attitude.

Adkisson seemed to do really well in training camp last season but we never saw him play in the preseason games because of a hurt knee. The year before that, he was hurt in training camp and never recovered. We did put him on the roster once a space opened up late in the season.

Fred Wakefield: T/G/TE/FB

He may not be a blue chip at any position, but it's nice to have a guy who can fill a lot of needs in a pinch.

Hell, maybe he can even play some D-line for us. Can't hurt to give him a look there. Belichick would.

i like wakefield too.

I'm thinking brayton's only shot is at pass rushing DT on 3rd and long but he'll have to beat richardson out for it..

I don't envision Richardson being a difficult player to beat out.

Brayton will get eaten up inside and he certainly doesn't have the quickness as evidenced by his illustrious sack numbers:rolleyes: I think he's better suited as a situational base DE. I think his playing time will greatly be diminished with the addition of Moses and the emergence of Huntley.

A quick tackle isn't going to put up great sack numbers as a RE. Inside, I think Brayton's quickness will be more of an impact. I don't see him as a starting DT, but stranger things have happened.

Whenever I think of Brayton I think of Kiffin telling the team that everything a player does counts. From all reports, Brayton is a great team guy. Last year Sapp was quoted as saying: "Tyler Brayton is everything you want in a football player." While I'm certain every Raider fan would like to see more production out of Brayton, I think his intangibles keep him on the roster and on the field--

but has the skill and motor to penetrate. If he can provide inside pressure on 3rd and long, thats good enough for me.

I've seen him play in college. As a 3rd down pass rusher on the inside, he could be very difficult to beat out. I hope he is and that brayton shows his best too. I want competition for even the role spots. Make people try harder.

I would have to agree that he'll make the roster. When you have a guy that goes all out like he does, it makes being a lazy fucker a little harder, I think. For anyone worth paying, I mean.

Indeed.

That would be nice, but I'm not getting my hopes up.

Brayton's like our own personal Raider Rudy...

Poor bastard.

Except Rudy only got to play one game.

We've let Brayton start 30+, and he's done dick all.

I like him as our 3-4th DE and our 3-4th DT, thats it.

He should not be getting starter reps anymore.
