Moss holds his tongue
September 15th, 2006
Randy Moss did his weekly spot with Fox Sports Radio Friday afternoon, managing to keep whatever doubts he had about the direction of the Raiders franchise to himself.
He described the Raiders as being like a “deer in the headlights'’ against San Diego. “I think we were talking a good game, but once the light came on, we were like stunned and shocked,'’ Moss said.
Moss said the Raiders practiced in pads twice this week and expected them to have a better chance to meet the challenge physically against Baltimore.
Only once did Moss seem bound for controversial territory. When asked what he was saying to quarterback Aaron Brooks on the sideline, he said he was, “just basically letting him know how it is around here.'’
Which of course prompted the follow-up question, “How is it around there?'’
This time, Moss caught himself, making sure to leave out references to eggshells and things being fishy.
“Aw, man, I really don’t want to get into that,'’ he said, veering into an answer about how games sometimes went badly and had to be put aside and that he told Brooks he was expected to be a leader.
