Random Thoughts...

You don't play The Game??? ;) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Game_(rapper)

I dig when rappers wear Raiders shit.

At the last Rock the Bells in Concord Phife Dawg from A Tribe Called Quest rapped with De La Soul, and he wore the same shirt with a gigantic Raiders logo on it that I wore to the season opener. At that same festival, one of the shitty opening acts, The Visionaries, said "Fuck the Raiders" at the end of their set because there was so much Raiders stuff everywhere, apparently. They got booed like I've never seen; it was awesome.

Young Buck, of G-Unit, unfortunately, was also in Scratch magazine a couple issues back wearing a Raiders hat.

We the illest from day one.

Sometimes - like with Luniz - it makes me say, "damn, that's kinda cool" but most times, I just think it is just another guy trying to cash in on somebody else's logo.

But you know that I'm cynical like that.

The Raiders and Hip-Hop go so well together. We so gangsta

Goes pretty good with Metal also. Metallica are well known Raider fans, but I saw a Slayer video (or was it Danzig?) a couple of years ago and the Bass player had a Raider logo on his electric.

BTW, anyone else notice that Tommy Kelly was moved to Tyler Brayton's starting DE spot last week. I wonder if this is going to be a permanent move heading into 2007? I always thought Kelly should have remained at DE. He might not be a great DE, but he was solid and did collapse the pocket quite a bit last season which allowed Burgess to put up better numbers IMO.

Brayton plays hard, but come on, 0 sacks from a starting DE just won't cut it. Tommy Kelly could be a 4-6 sack guy at DE IMO and would also provide more "beef" along the line.

I will be interesting to see how the Raiders address the DE issue. Perhaps Burgess & Kelly are starters in 2007, with Huntley & Brayton as key back-ups?

If we could get a true NT that could absorb double teams, our D would be downright scary.

The Raiders will almost certainly draft a first day DT. Bank on it.

I hope so. I don't want that to happen with our first pick since we need sooooo much on offense but yes we need to shore up that DT situation. That and finding an answer on the other side to compliment Burgess will in fact make this defense a big problem.

Kelly at DE I'm not sure about but maybe it's a better option than Brayton who is just as pedestrian as they come. It just didn't work out. He reminds me a lot of the kid from Florida State --- Tony Bryant. He was Ok but I expected a lot more.

Tony Bryant applied more QB pressure than Brayton.

How about making a free agent run at Cincy DE, Justin Smith? He has something like 8 sacks, constant motor and is decent against the run, from what I hear anyway.

I would like to see Huntley develop into that spot. Looks like he was already getting more reps the last couple games.

I think we can find a 2-gap DT on day 2 of the draft with either or 4th or 5th rounder. Kind of wish we pulled the trigger on Gabe Watson or Barry Cofield in the 4th instead of Bing.
