Let 'er rip until herd immunity, at least on a slow burn so as to not overwhelm hospitals, probably winds up with 1 million dead.

100+ drug companies working on a vaccine, challenge trials starting soon, and your boy trump saying the vaccine will be here by fall (4 months). Why not pick up groceries curbside, bank electronically, halt big weddings and stuff, for another 6 months and save a lot of lives.

If you think it is hard to make people stay at home, you might find out it is even harder to make them go into a crowded place with a deadly disease circulating. If one side of the political spectrum wants to volunteer to be the ones that give us herd immunity --- great.

I was talking to people in TX that I used to live near, and they say even though it's open, there not tons of people congregating together. I think most people will take it slow.
But hoping for a vaccine is a dangerous game, we still don't have an aids and that's been 30 years.

I think the reality is that the stay at home orders were well intentioned but moronically enforced. Seattle is literally screwing 2x4's into park benches to keep people from sitting there.. when they ironically haven't bothered picking up needles or human shit piles for years.

People aren't allowed to go to their barber, even if they would use social distancing, but they're allowed to go to Wal-Mart.

Can't go fishing by yourself but you can wait in a packed line for a school issued laptop.

Nurses/fire departments aren't even masking up anymore in many areas.

The video is more about lampooning people being fearful boot-licking drones (Kinz) than it is a statement about the veracity of CV19 one way or the other.
 
The restaurants have a rude awakening coming. Even when they are re-opened people will be reluctant to go out to eat.

Actually I think the restaurants know this and so many will never make it back. Gonna be huge fallout in that business.

My view for nearly a month now is to open things in a very controlled, intelligent fashion. Get contact tracing up and running. Leave things that need to be closed closed. Science and reason are assets. There might be a vaccine in 6 months, but you are right that you can't count on it. I personally do not want to go out there and get this now when they no so little about it.

There are clearly many who are ambivolent about getting this. They should be used for challenge trials of vaccines. They are going to get it anyway, they might as well be of use to society.

It may not fit your agenda, but in early to mid april I was saying that there would be a controlled reopening of things. And I think there should be. You have some weird fetish with me. Oh well, enjoy yourself.

I went to the beach this past weekend and at least where I was everyone stayed in small groups away from each other. I saw some restaurants with outdoor seating open using about 1/3 of the normal tables.

I feel bad for people that haven't been able to keep working. My wife is a real estate agent and people have begun calling her asking to sell thier homes so they could the equity out now, they're afraid of foreclosure in a month or two

I don't see much trouble with the beach if even a modest amount of common sense is applied. Sun, salt water, open spaces. Eating outdoors is a bit riskier, but not a big deal if common sense applied. I would like utensils in sealed plastic for example and a bunch of space between me and the next group.

Rationality, sense, and hard work are key here. Opinion polls say 7 in 10 favor retaining social distancing. Good luck with your pet supply business if you aren't providing curbside pickup. Good luck with your bowling alley too.

It is damn hard to force people to stay at home, it is a lot harder to coerce them to not do so. Normal won't come back until this thing is under control.

Watched a UFC Embedded program. Justin Gaethje was wearing his Raiders shirt, walking his 10 year old dog (named Raider) around his Lakewood, Colorado neighborhood, talking about what a huge Raider fan he is.

I already liked the guy. Now I really like the guy.

OK cheers. So you're saying that there's pretty much consensus that a lockdown was required but how it's been executed is why there are protests now? That makes sense, particularly given the range of population density across America. I can see that what's required in NYC is maybe not suitable for one-horse-townsville in middle America.

But if is just a question of degree and application, then I'm not sure I follow the logic of your last sentence (in bold). If the virus is dangerous, lockdown is the solution and the only quibbles are around park benches and haircuts, then aren't the 'Don't Tread on Me' advocates also boot-licking drones?
 
because government is just a group flawed human beings like the rest of us, in possession of all the same human foibles and biases and ambitions... except they can enforce their failures at the point of a gun and ruin lives.

they're idiots, they're under tremendous political pressure from an incompetent and corrupt media... they have no balls, they don't want to be the nail sticking up to get hammered... they sense opportunity that the more disastrous their particular economic situation the more likely they get a sweet federal bailout, and on and on.

I'm a doomer who believes a vaccine will come?

I don't believe I've suggested that anyone die. I have suggested that if a person believes we should have 70% of the population get this and acts accordingly, then this belief could be put to benefit if they would be willing to get the disease under controlled circumstances in a challenge trial.

Sorry the facts do not fit your narrative.

In reading this, I don't see any content beyond calling me names.

I don't have any belief that I will ever change your mind or get you to stop calling me names. But I did think that you would be solely at this level after a brief discussion. That point came sooner than I expected.
