The 4th QTR just started and this game has been over since the 2nd period. Awful.

The nano-second that Free Agency begins, the RAIDERS better be linked to every FA offensive lineman on the market. I could care less how much we overpay, but we need at least 3 new veteran players to come in and start.

Assuming that anyone currently on the roster will be a bonafied starter heading into 2007 would be criminally stupid IMHO.

Gallery is a BUST. Without qualification, he's an absolute BUST. There is zero future at LT for this stiff. I told you guys that Norv Turner was in fact on to something when he didn't play him at LT as a rookie. Norv noticed quite early that this dude is/was a stiff. Perhaps the answer is a return to RT or even OG? At this point, I'll take anything from this dude. Anything.

Grove - Equally a bust. Not strong enough to play Center so how in the hell can he play OG in this offense? Answer? He can't. Time to cut bait and I see even less future for Grove in Oakland that I do for Gallerina.

Walker - Simply too slow and I get the sense that the "fire doen't burn deeply enough" for this player. FA veteran, McUgly, Gallerina? The RT job should be WIDE OPEN in the 2007 training camp.

Ronald Curry - One the few players that has shown anything in 2006. With limited reps at that. This guy should be given every opportunity to land a starting nod in 2007. Of course the question of sudden & devastating injury will always be a concern for this hard working young man.

John Madsen - Enough with this TE bull shit. He's a WR and could be an Ed McCaffrey type player if we just play him at WR.

TE? Sign Eric Johnson in the offseason. Problem solved.

Draft - I want to Marshawn Lynch or Adrian Petersen. Whichever one is better. Simple as that.

Walker: Personally, I think he is our worst lineman. He was a sieve today, and played like horseshit.

Curry:An absolute travesty that this guy isnt getting starter reps. Morant should be the 3rd WR, Madsen the 4th and Curry starting. 8 catches 99 yards and a TD? Gimme a break, Shell.

Asomugha and Washington: Against (arguably) the best and deepest WR corps and best Qb in the league, they combined for 3 INT's. They gave up some big catches (Poole and Schweig each had two key gaffe's though) but overall had VERY solid games.

Huntley: So the fucking guy gets a half sack and plays full throttle in his first game, and we decide to let him play what? 10 snaps. Fuck you, Art.

Gallery: I don't understand how you can say he is more of a bust now, than prior to his injury. Any second overall pick who plays average is a bust. That being said...I think he is our best O-lineman and should be moved back to RT or to G for good. Sign a veteran LT and get some free agent help on the line.

Huff: Did the guy even play? I mean, sure he had some tackles, but he also whiffed on a sideline tackle giving up a first down and looked misplaced on a few of Palmers rockets. Personally, I'm pretty underwhelmed with him, and would have loved Leinart or even a guy playing actual stud like defense: Matthias Kiwanuka or Haloti Ngata.

Missed again, I'm afraid.

Overall, a pretty sound whoopin by a very good and on a roll team. No suprises from where I was sitting.

My draft board at the moment is:

1) Quinn
2) Peterson
3) Calvin Johnson
4) Alan Branch
5) Lynch

We better start going for broke again in the draft. These "safe picks" are killing us. I think most of us were expecting Huff to be an impact player right out of the box. He's anything but an impact player. Maybe he's just not suited for SS...dunno but like 007 I'm not impressed with this guy's play (7th overall fucking pick?). He rarely makes the big hit and never makes the big play.

I am completely disgusted with this team. I actually feel asleep in the second quarter and turned to another game in the third.

I'm not going to get down on Huff just yet. It tood Asomugha a couple of years to get acclimated to the NFL, Fabian continues to improve, etc. Secondary is one of the few areas that I'm stoked about. Huff should be fine and much more of an impact player in 2007. Probably a FS however.

While we're at it, Tyler Brayton needs to go as a starting DE. He offers NADA in the pass rush department and when Burgess is contained, as he was today, we have no pressure from the other side. Huntley? Veteran FA? First day draft pick at DE? Whatever, Brayton is a hard working fringe player and not much else.

Agreed.

I just think the situations are different. Both Aso and Fabs we're works in progress, ie: athletes who had to develop the skills, but had killer potential and needed some game play.

A safety like Huff who was touted as the top playmaker in the draft, and was an award winner on a national champion and regarded as the best DB at any position (According to my Sporting News draft guide) availible, should not have this many holes in his game.

Aso and Schweig both tackle and cover better at this point, whereas a guy like Ngata could have been plugged in and stuffing the run from day one.

Moot point now, I guess and I still think Huff could be a huge asset for us with his versatility.

P.S: Brayton needs to be a high energy reserve. He almost had a hand on Palmer in the 4th Q though. I was screaming at the TV for him to get his first sack.

I dunno how much more of this I can take before removing my head with a large caliber weapon.

37 fuckin yards total rushing our RB's got agaisnt the fuckin Bengals?

If there is anything that pretty much tells us what our problems are on offense there it is..

Our OL is atrocious

And Brooks is just awful

Trade down, pick up an early 2nd

Draft Lynch in rd 1... and fuck it.. take Troy Smith in rd 2 and the best Center right after Smith

Oh God.. my ass is starting to bleed

Good scenario there.

Add the comp pick from Woodson (I'm thinking a 3rd rounder, at least 4th) and the 5th rounder from Gabs and we would be sitting with:

1 2 2 3 3 4 5 in the first five rounds (7 picks)

A nice building block going into '07 free agency.

Quote of the game

This was the first game I actually got my six year-old (verrrrrry girl) to watch with me.
I got to teach her that winning isn't everything, and that you don't abandon what youe believe in just because things currently completely blow.
After the two sacks given up in the 4th quarter, she asked,
"Daddy, why do they just let the other guys tackle him (Brooks)?"
"They're not trying to honey, they're just not as good as the other guys."
To which she replied, "Well, they need to get some better players then."
Amen.

Yeah it's that or extreme apathy. I don't know which reaction is worse? My girl friend had to lob me call at 11:00 before I remembered the game. Granted I was sleeping last night's Kottonmouth Kings show off, but I've NEVER been this disintereted in watching the Raiders. Never.

About sums it up.

The man deserves some "rep power" with this post.

Look, it would take an ACLU lawyer to convince anyone that Huff's rookie season has been anything other than "uninspiring" thus far, but Al Davis' drafting philosophy seems solid in one area: Defensive Backs. The man has still "got it" in this area IMO. Besides, if Gallery & Grove still have the "wrong position" or "not enough time" defense, than so should Huff after his rookie season while (IMO) playing out of position.

Still, I'm increasingly with you on this Franchise QB thing. I still want Petersen or Lynch, but if we did take a QB first, I would completely understand the thinking.

it's tough to come up with any new perspective at this point. there's no question that our team is the worst in the NFL, and quite possibly has been since their superbowl debacle. it's been a long, long road back and my only hope is that it can't get any worse than it is right now. we have to improve by default, at the very least.

as i watch these games i feel like Ferris Bulher's best friend after he went catatonic.

I'm sticking with the guy whose impressed me against my will. The closest thing we'll ever get to a Baby Bo.

Like Tony Montana would say: "First you get the defense chico, Then you get the running game, then you get a qb, then you get the power chico."

Didn't see the game as I was at the Honolulu Marathon watching my wife run with 1000's of other nutjobs... Listened to the game on the radio though...

* Why didn't we go for two after scoring to make the game Cincy 27- Oakland 9?... With 10 minutes in the game, a successful two point conversion would have made it a two score game 27-11... Going for the extra point made it a three score game... Unlikely we would have come back, but it still continues the questionable game management we've seen all year...

* At least we're moving the ball on offense... That's something, I guess...

* Alvis freakin Whitted must have got 15 balls thrown his way today... This offense may not have gone to complete shit if we had been doing that with the seemingly always open Ronald Curry all year.... Porter would have helped as well...

* Langston Walker- I saw this one coming... all I have to say about Walker is that Jon Runyan basically got a one year, $3 million dollar deal  ... It also pains me to see Larry Allen just killing guys out there right now... Up our offer to Allen and get Runyan in here and we maybe could have done something running the ball...

* That man crush Mike Lombardi was said to have on Maurice Drew?... Friggen eh dude... You'll do a great job with the Jets next year once you're forced out of here... Drew has been nails for me in my ESPN FFL...

* I wasn't a big fan of taking Huff, but I think he's doing more or less what he's being asked to do within this defense... His effectiveness would probably be greater if we let him settle into a groove instead of having him overthink by throwing so much at him... He's not making the glaring errors Polamalu made his rook year so in all liklihood, we'll probably see the Texas version of Huff next season IMO... I still would have preferred taking one of my guys and I still would rather see Huff playing over the top of Fabs and Aso much the way Ed Reed is playing over the top of Rolle and McCallister...

* I'm firmly on the Adrian Peterson bandwagon at this point... As much as I want a stud DT, I think we can get by by adding a stud run stuffer like Conrad Bolston, a personal fav of mine... After crashing and burning the Roethlisberger bandwagon, I think it's better for those of you that do want Quinn that I avoid getting on board.... Drafting Roeth would have meant we would never had seen dopes like Brooks and Collins wearing the colors... Just saying...

* I hate Aaron Brooks....

* Anyone with the telecast have opinions on the play of McQ at LG?...

I watched him extensively and as far as I could tell, he was not beaten in pass protection and looked good on running downs. All in all he played much better despite their poor line performance as a whole.

He looked lost most of the day. Even sitting on the bench he looked like he had no clue. He was actually chasing his man from the back in our own backfield a lot. May be he looked better in the fourth quarter...dunno.

Heh...maybe I was watching another game. Just dunno.
