Were the previous two wins flawed? Well, yes, the teams were compartively "bad" and we should have won, but considering the injuries and the fact that this team (and fan base) seemed so utterly dejected following the SD debacle, most of us figured we would whimper our way through the rest of the year - much like the past couple of seasons, but they have responded !!!
To be sure, the games against KC will provide a better barometer of whether or not we're a true contender for a playoff position, but one thing is for certain, this team has NOT quit. For the first time in a while, I'm excited about the young talent on defense and can Raider Nation finally give Rob Ryan some credit? Many people were and remain perplexed by the Tyler Brayton experiment at LB'er, but looking at from a big picture point of view, this exposure to OLB for a true DE will only servce the team well when he is asked to drop into coverage on a zone blitz. Derrick Burgess is...dare I say....looking a bit like Greg Townsend. OK, that was a bit much, but at least like a poor man's Derrick Thomas. I'll take that. Routt & Washington look like solid picks afterall and Nmandi Asomugha has become the "physical" CB that we need to deal with big WR's like Keyshon Johnson, etc.
We're thin at LB'er, but Kirk Morrison & Danny Clark form a nice physical tandem. Add a quick OLB to this mix and we'll really have something.
I don't like our Safety situation, but then again, I haven't liked it since Eddie Anderson & Van McKelroy. Rome wasn't built in a day or so they say.
Anyway, work is calling.
