Peterson - Monday - 5pm - FOX

Quinn - Wednesday - 5pm - FOX

Normally don't watch amateur pigskin... but I've got no choice now. A Raider is going to be playing in one of these games. For the record, I'm on the Trade-The-Fuck-Out-Of-This-Pick Jihad. Could be a Hershel Walker type bounty if we do... but I'll be watching both these games intently anyways.
 
Sign me up for the trade back jihad. But, sadly, this cold, Brady Quinn-like chill just ran up my spine.

Picking Peterson and getting another high 2nd

Ship Moss to Atlanta for Schaub and our 5th pick we got from the Midgets

Take Peterson, Meachem and Zach Miller in rds 1 & 2

And knock knees Kyle Young falls to rd 3

Getting Schaub, Peterson, Meachem and Zach Miller would be the perfect tri-fecta
 
Not sold on Schaub, but I'd do any trade that got Moss the hell out of town.
 
I like most of your plan, Nips, but as some others have mentioned, why is Matt Schaub and his carrer 66 QB rating and sub-50 completion percentage such a supposed hot commodity? :confused:

However he was 15/21 today and did throw a TD.. in the 4th qtr mind you

We average 3 points in the 2nd half of all our games

Schaub comes in and thros a tater in the 4th.. something we havent done all season

I'd like to see Walter and Schaub battle it out

I think schaub and walter both could be good QB's witha good runni9ng game and a decent OL

Just dont wanna waste a pick in rd 1 for an unproven cat that is gonna get hammered behind this OL

We need a good young vet QB

Schua would be a great addition to this team
 
I agree with you Nips...I want us to draft Peterson HANDS DOWN...BUT...instead of Schaub...I would MUCH rather try to pull Troy Smith in the draft as well & let him and Walter fight for the job...I also agree that we should without a doubt grab OL in free-agency...PLEASE LISTEN TO US AL!!!

Because to me, our offense is pretty much starting from scratch. You don't need great wideouts to have a good offense, but you do need a good runningback/offensive line. We need to get those two things addressed pronto.

"The best player available" seems to be an oversimplification when you try to evaluate different positions. How do you compare a RB to a QB to a WR? My guess is Quinn will be the best QB available, Peterson will be the best RB available, and CJ will be the best WR available. I'm not sure anybody can realistically say one will be better than the other at this point... but you could make a decision based on "which player you want to build your team around". In that case, taking CJ would be ridiculous.
 
realistically I'd see CJ and peterson as better than Quinn. Only because they both have performed well in the big games more times than not. That still is a knock looming over Quinn's head at this point. If his combine/pro day numbers blow people away or he gets a hype build up between now and the draft, he very well could be seen as better as a prospect. Though i'm not 100 percent go on combine numbers.
 
I actually agree, Seraph. (Ranking AP and CJ ahead of Quinn)

I also think Quinn fills the biggest need on our team, and combining that with his blue chip talent...You take the third rated overall player over the best WR in a decade, IMO.

I was floored by CJ's ability

Ah, well thats where we may not see eye to eye my friend. My idea is that the obvious need is RB. CJ is the best player. But Peterson is the type of prototypical Ole school style rb in the Marcus Allen, Bo Jackson, Dickerson mold that only comes along every blue moon. Honestly as a str8 up RB even better than Reggie Bush. i think his combination of size and speed will give Al a premature football ejaculation. One i know he couldnt get from Lamont Jordan and was begging to get from Justin Fargas to no avail. Homosexual analogies aside, I think its a no brainer for the raiders as an organization. Fits their motif IMO of what they typically look for in players period.

If they flip that script and go after Quinn I'd be shocked. Not impossible though.
