Since @007 is apparently asleep at the wheel this year...

I'll preface that I would have traded up and drafted JJ, but since we didn't and have no real way of determining how that would have affected the draft, I'll just stick to the picks we made and who was available.

13. I probably would have considered Arnold here but with a couple of days to absorb it, Bowers seems like the right choice.
44. JPJ. No brainer.
77. I'm really tempted to take Corum here but getting Laube later my brain says trenches over RBs, so Matt Goncalves.
112. Another pick where I'm tempted to take someone else, in this case Tez Walker, but CB is a need and I think TJ Tampa has less of a curve than Richardson.
148. Would you rather roll the dice on a QB or a back up LB? Come on now. Rattler.
208. Laube is a great pick here IMO.
223. I don't feel strongly about it but with both guys likely being ST's players mostly, I'd go Brenden Rice over Taylor. Rice seems like a guy that can be a run blocking monster and good RZ target.
229. MJ Devonshire is fine here. I'll stick with that.

As always, it's an interesting exercise to go back and look at how it all went down, who and what positions were actually available when, etc. and how it all fits together.

I'm fine with the first two picks. I had Goncalves in my Lil Al in the 3rd. Donuts has a lot of work to do and not a sure bet. I think I would have gone with a safer bet at corner. Someone that maybe didn't have all the measurable but was a more all around player. I mean most corners picked in the 4th are pretty much long shots anyway. Maybe pull the trigger on Rattler here.

I'm actually fine with the rest of the picks. We needed some more LB depth and got an AP type LB. I loved the Laube pick. Kid is going to be contributor and I love his attitude. Taylor has a chance to stick and is a smart heady player with some skills. Fine with Devonshire. Maybe he sticks on PS. I don't put much stock in 7th rounders.

Lazy ass Telesco makes this really difficult because we have no baseline for a trade up to get a QB.

Not sure I want to do one this year because nothing matters without a QB IMO.

Just so people have starting point with our picks….

13: Brock Bowers, TE, Georgia -- I was hoping Penix would drop but also didn't expect Bowers to be available. Is this my 'Plan A' draft? No. It's not a need but Brock is a stud and I'm happy with the pick overall. Do we have a great TE to terrorize the AFCW for the next decade like the Chiefs have with Kelce? I fucking hope so. Kid really can do it all and is just a weapon... get him the ball at the LOS and let him work.

44: Jackson Powers-Johnson, G, Oregon -- Just good value. Best IOL left and we needed to add a starter. No brainer pick.

77: Christian Haynes, G, UCONN -- Gonna double dip here, just more good value. Not a big fan of Parham at guard. Let Parham/JPJ/Haynes battle it out for the two spots.

112: Jaylen Wright, RB, Tenn -- Adds a speed element to the RB room.

148: Qwantez Stiggers, CB, CFL -- Grab a CB and see if he can stick. Not sure how he'll do coming into the pros but he's talented. I want to sign a vet CB.

208: Dylan Laube, RB, NH -- Fuck it, double up. Still like the value of Laube here. I like Zamir but Mattison/Ameer are barely rosterable to me.

223: Michael Pratt, QB, Tulane -- Dart throw, I did think he'd go more in the 4th-6th round.

229: MJ Devonshire, CB, Pitt -- Add another CB and try to coach him up

1.13 - Taliese Fuaga OT
2.44 - Jackson Powers Johnson G/C
3.77 - Payton Willson LB
4.112 - Jaylen Wright RB
5.148 - Jordan Travis QB
6.208 - Daequan Hardey CB
7.223 - Trey Taylor S
7.229 - Kalen King CB

I am perfectly fine with Bowers pick however. This is what I would have done so..

Forgot about Travis. Whoever we drafted at that point most certainly spends the first season as the 3rd string and standard practice seems to be only keeping two on the roster so Travis might make more sense as a draft and stash.

I am seeing how much of a bind once we went Bowers how hard it was to find great value in round 3. The double dip OG was probably the best route here, but I really like Payton Wilson too.

We needed another TE.

I will have him fitted for his Gold Jacket next week!

🤤🤤🤤

Parham/JPJ/Haynes/James for the 3 interior positions would be fucking amazing. Hard to see Andre James surviving that training camp cage match, but maybe he does.

And then double-dipping Day 3 lightning guys to go with the Zamir White thunder is an all-around solid choice.

I was made at Miami for taking Wright where they did.

1.7 Michael Penix Jr, QB, Washington - Raiders get their QB for the now and for the future. The guy has arm strength to spare and the mindset to take the Raiders back to their roots of throwing deep. He utilizes touch, zip, and leverage to get the ball in the right place at the right time for receivers to make a play on the ball. His footwork is a little dicey under pressure, but it's something that a good QB coach can help with. In 10 years, we may look back and say that Penix was the best QB in this draft class. That's how good he is.

1.13 - traded to Tennessee
2.44 - traded to Tennessee
3.77 - traded to Tennessee
4.112 - traded to Tennessee
5.148 - traded to Tennessee
6.208 - traded to Tennessee
7.223 - traded to Tennessee
7.229 - traded to Tennessee

Gonna stick with my plan:

1.13 - Fuaga, OT
2.44 - JPJ, IOL
3.77 - Burton, WR
4.112 - Richardson, CB
5.148 - Eichenberg, LB
6.208 - Laube, RB
7.223 - Taylor, S
7.229 - Devonshire, CB

I would have traded 3 first rounders to move into the top 10 and pick a QB.

That being said.

Given the rules of the exercise:

1.13 - DT Murphy (He was my favorite guy outside of a QB so fuck it. Nobody here was taking a TE until we took a fuckin TE hahaha)
2.44 - WR Mitchell (JPJ tough to pass up but everyone is picking him so fuck it. It was an A+ pick we made IMO)
3.77 - LB Wilson (Gotta do it. His value at 77 sticks out above the rest. Even as a "one contract guy" I do it everytime)
4.112 - S Hicks (I had him as a 2nd rounder)
5.148 - CB Stiggers (Top level upside)
6.208 - RB Laube (Steal here IMO)
7.223 - DT Gabe Hall (Build my DL and fuck all y'all)
7.229 - OT Greenfield (Guess I'm gonna need some lineman)

I am seeing how much of a bind once we went Bowers how hard it was to find great value in round 3. The double dip OG was probably the best route here, but I really like Payton Willis too.

I think Wilson stuck out like a sore thumb in rd 3 IMO. If some miracle happened and I was actually in the draft room I would have been banging the drum to flip a 2025 pick to move up and get him at the end of round 2.
