We do this every year. Time to put your nuts on the table.

What would you have done with our picks in our spot?

Here are the old ones. We've been doing this since Reggie Mckenzie year one.

Who we picked:

I would have just said fuck it on all the trade up bull shit and just added 12 guys especially seeing our lack of pull in UDFA portion. This team needs a ton of help so more darts that can hit the board.

Defense heavy with back 7 targeted to attempt to fix once and for all. The Anti HB draft. We dont need a top 100 WR as we have 11 on the roster.

Here is mine:

Round 1 pick 7: CB Christian Gonzalez Oregon
*I had him ranked higher, right there with Witherspoon. Get my corner now and move on with my day. I would like to say I have the balls to go Carter here but I doubt I would have.

Round 2 pick 38: Brian Branch FS Alabama
*Secondary fixed if both my guys hit.

Round 3 pick 70: Daiyan Henley LB Wash ST
*I think he starts for us year 1. Inside or outside LB talent. We dont have more than 2 LB's worth shit and he has value here.

Round 3 pick 100: Dawand Jones OT OSU
*He develops for a year and hopefully takes over for Jermaine. I considered his upside as a top 50 guy.

Round 4 pick 109: Ade Adebawore DT Northwestern
* I had him as a day two guy, most sites seemed to as well. Interior passrusher/rotational guy

Round 5 pick 141: Owen Pappoe LB Auburn
*Keep adding to the defense and Henley/Pappoe can play Special teams.

Round 5 pick 144: OG Asim Richards North Carolina
Round 5 pick 174: DE Karl Brooks Bowling Green
Round 6 pick 204: TE Zack Kuntz ODU
Round 6 pick 214: CB Corey Trice Purdue
Round 7 pick 220: QB Max Duggan TCU
Round 7 pick 231: DE Andre Carter Army

I'm mostly in agreement with keeping the picks. I didn't scout DT much due to how FA turned out in my game, yet we absolutely need some of those, which makes it a little tough for me to call a shot there. Consider this a draft until I can dig into the DTs.

7: Gonzalez was my guy, though with hindsight, that may have been a bad idea.
38: I don't know if Mayer is still there, but I'd have nabbed him. If he's gone, yeah, probably Branch.
70: Henley easily. I nabbed him there in my game.
100/109: I likely go for one of my Gs there - either Zavala or Bradford. If I want to move Parham to C, I likely draft Bradford and Zavala like I did myself. Jones probably is my backup just for value at that point.
141/144: Probably Terrell Smith the CB from MIN and Toto for more LB depth.
174: Dipping back into TE, Davis Allen is just someone who stands out to me.
204: DT Stills
214: OT Ekiyor
220: CB Trice
231: DL Ojomo

For simplicity sake I’m keeping the same picks we traded up to and just taking the player I would’ve taken.

Round 1, Pick 7
Jalen Carter, DT, Georgia — just can’t pass on the talent. Hand him to Maxx and Chandler to mentor.

Round 2, Pick 35 (From IND)Michael Mayer, TE | Notre Dame — I keep this pick the same. Love adding Mayer, I never thought he’d drop this far. Had him and Kincaid close as prospect, Kincaid as a better receiver but Mayer as more of a true 3-down TE. We’re going to love him.

Round 3, Pick 70 Daiyan Henley, LB, Washington State — I actually think in a ‘normal’ year this is too high for him. But after Henley the LB talent is shit. Henley is still learning the position but talented. He’d be a probable starter right away.

Round 3, Pick 100 (From KC via NYG)*
Chandler Zavala, G, NC ST — Add some talent to the OL at a position of need. He’d compete with Bars day one.

Round 4, Pick 104 (From HOU)
Jakorian Bennett, CB, Maryland — I can dig it. Gonna keep Bennett. Good value in the 4th.

Round 4, Pick 135 (from NE)
Dorian Thompson Robinson , QB, UCLA — dual threat QB with tons of experience. Plenty of work for him to do before he becomes an NFL starter but I like the talent and letting McDaniels mold him

Round 5, Pick 170 (from NYJ)
Christopher Smith II, S, Georgia — excellent value in the 5th at a position of need. I’m good with this.

Round 6, Pick 203 (from HOU)
Deuce Vaughn, RB, Kansas St — tons of college production and good value here. Good guy to spell Jacobs.

Round 7, Pick 231 (From NE)
Carrington Valentine, CB, Kentucky — double dipping on CB since we’re so thin there.

Don’t have time today to delve into the micro approach to selecting a player for every pik. Rather, just some macro overview thoughts.

- Do I have faith that McZ *really* did enough background checking on Tyree’s injury? I have my doubts. Lisfranc is tricky. With ALLLL our 1st round mulligan’s in the last several years…you almost have to have a 95+ percent probability that he will be good to go. I don’t think they have that. Can you *even* imagine all the uproar and furor if, let’s say, we’re in August and news comes out that he has to have another surgery? Yikes! But, IMO, that is at least a plausible scenario. Given that…I would have drafted Gonzalez and drafted DE later.

- I would not have drafted O’Connell. He has too many ‘challenges’ to allocate 3 draft choices (almost 25% of our entire draft). The draft choice itself, and the two we had to give up to draft him. Every draft sight I’ve seen is that his ceiling is a capable *back up*. And we had to give 3 picks to get that.

- Mayer was a good to very good pick. If he ran a 4.55 it would have been a GREAT pik.

- I would have taken BPA with the 3rd and 4th pik rather than the DT and WR.

** So, IMO, on face value…this is a C+ draft as it is currently constructed, given the above factors.

My draft:

Because I’m comparing my redraft to McZ’s actual draft (2540.8/766 draft capital per JJ/Hill), the perceived value of my redraft is based on when players were actually selected (per JJ/Hill) not based on either CBB or when I selected them below pursuant to the redrafting rules.

Day 1 (1800/491)

#7 + ‘24 1st + ‘24 2nd —> #3 Richardson + ‘24 5th

I’m besting Hou’s offer and trading up for Richardson (using JJ’s chart, which includes a premium for trading into the T5). Hou traded its #12 pick (1200), #33 pick (580), a ‘24 1st and a ‘24 3rd for Ariz’s #3 (2200) and #105 (84). That means Ariz put 504 point value on Hou’s future 1st and 3rd round picks. That’s a discount of 1 round and 2+ spots for the ‘24 picks. Following that logic, I beat Hou’s offer, without crippling my draft this year while I develop Superman, by trading the #7 pick (1500) plus next year 1st and 2nd (720) getting back Ariz’s ‘24 5th (16.7). This deal’s a no brainer for Ariz as they get P. Johnson at #7 w/o having to trade up to #6 to draft him. I recoup some draft capital to help pay for the move up by trading Renfrow after June 1.

Day 2 (940/250)

#38 + #70 —> #48 & #55

Det was willing and dealing in the draft. Because I blocked Det’s trade down to Ariz in the 1st, I trade with Det in the 2nd. Det moved up in the 2nd round and also compiled picks in the 1st. Neither Hill’s chart nor BSPN’s simulator requires me to throw in #204 to close a deal. If necessary, I would as I badly want to pilfer Benton from the Steelers and Sanders from the Donks—home fucking run!

#48: Benton, DT
#55: Sanders, LB

With Mims gone and Downs falling, I agree with McD that we need speed in the slot as Meyers and Hooper are now the possession targets. I trade up to #73 by, per Hill, besting NYG’s offer of #89 and #128 and sending #100 and #109 to the Rams.

#100 + #109 —> #73 Downs, WR

Day 3 (91.5/41)

Hating Bars and not trusting Muti’s health, I target Zavala and trade up with the NYJ at #112, who accept my offer (#141 & #144) instead of trading with NE (#120 & #184).

#141 + #144 —> #112 Zavala, OG.

I agree with McZ and trade up a few spots to bank C. Smith over Skinner, trusting the tape and our need for a FS to replace Harmon and play along side of Moehrig and/or Epps, with the NYJ netting more and the correct value.

#174 + #220 —> #170 C. Smith, S

Now I dip into the deep classes of CB & TE:

#204: Valentine, CB

#214: Kuntz, TE

#231: Trice, CB

I finish the day by signing the Army stud, Carter, Edge, b/c I did not draft an edge and he not only thinks he will make the roster but also beat out Willis and Koonce for playing time! AmIRight @Darkenblot?

Total Points: 2831.5 (+11.4%) / 782 (+20.5%)

#Championship!

Assuming I can't trade up for Young/Stroud...

1.7 - Wilson - best player. Carter arguably is but I don't trust him in Vegas
2.35 - Mayer - Best player on the board - great value. Not the biggest need but IDK. Take good players
3.70 - I know "why" we picked young (DT was already getting thin). But simply LB was a bigger need and I take Daiyan Henley who is the best of the group.
3.100 - It's not fair to Tucker... but I so dislike this pick. I instead snap up Adetomiwa Adebawore as my DT
4.104 - I like Bennett but prefer CB Kelee Ringo who went just one pick later.
4.135 - We can use more than one LB and so while I like O'Connell as our future backup - Henry To'oTo'o helps our piss poor LB group more.
5.170 - Christopher Smith II is a solid pick up here as a good 3rd S.
6.203 - Having filled our LB need already - I take a chance on an injured player in Andrew Vorhees who steps in next year as a starting G
7.231 - I like Nesta a ton at this pick - but give me Cory Trice as another CB to go with Ringo.

#7 - Christian Gonzalez - CB

#38 - Cam Smith - CB

#70 - Darnell Washington - TE

#100 - A.Adebawore - DT

#109 - D.Jones - RT

#141 - Mike Morris - DE

#144 - Noah Sewell - ILB

#174 - Jaylen Duncan - OT

#204 - Zach Kuntz - TE

#214 - Brandon Joseph - FS

#220 - Andre Carter - DE

#231 - Ronnie Bell -WR/ST

Gorgeous looking draft.

Easier to go for Carter in our position as internet nobodys. I dont think I have the stones to do it in real life haha.

A bunch of people might regret passing on him in the NFL

Would have loved to trade off a pick or two for 2024 draft capital, but too many good players avail this year and too many holes to fill right away on the roster. But 2024 absolutely must be the year of the QB…

These are guys we would have if there was no GM and they simply followed my guide the last 8 years in this thread @CARR'S JILTED LOVER 818

23 - Christian Gonzalez and Brian Branch at Corner and safety/nickel
22 - Leo Chenal at LB, Tariq Woolen at CB, Munford and Salyer on the OL. Sam Howell as our backup cheap QB (And I would not have traded for Davante or signed fuckin Jimmy G lol)
21- The best LT in the NFL Christian Darrisaw, All pro G Quinn Meinerz, Moehrig and Molden in the secondary
20 - WR Ceedee Lamb, QB Jalen Hurts, LB Zach Baun. Amik and John Simpson.
19 - Ed Oliver at DT, Montez Sweat. (No Maxx fuck). Charles Omenihu (Who is an underrated stud)
18 - Tremaine Edmunds at All Pro LB. Dallas Goedert at TE. Orlando Brown at RT. Tim Settle, Braxton Berrios.
17 - I dont want to talk about it. (Samaje Perine?!?)
16- Cant find it but likely someone to replace Carr at this point.

We would literally be in Cap Hell trying to find a way to pay all of the All Pros over the last decade or so.

I bet @DonkeyKilla look even better than mine.

Meinerz made all pro? Fuck yes. Another feather in my cap - drafted him in my silly game.

No idea actually. I know he's a fuckin beast and put that in there to emphasize our studliness.
