Pro Wrestling, no longer Sports Entertainment thread

I saw something about night one having a roughly equal amount of time dedicated to ads as there was in-ring action. That's just appalling. Maybe night two wasn't as egregious.
My first live show so I don't have a comparison. Watched night 1 on TV and it felt like matches were short. Night 2 I felt a few matches had more to give. But pacing felt normal for what I'd seen on TV.

I went to a show as a kid, back when Demolition was a three man team. They were filming matches for two different shows, which was kinda funny to me. At a show featuring Hogan, Warrior, etc, the loudest pop of the night was when Elizabeth got up on the apron and knocked Sherri on her ass. The pop was so loud, I went deaf for a few seconds. Crazy experience.

Beyond that, I've only been to one house show. That was a fun experience, too. Flair vs Michaels. RVD vs Kane in a cage. Christian pinning Farooq, which I'm still not pleased about witnessing. Ha

No wonder things have been bad recently.

Speaking at the University of Alabama, TKO President Mark Shapiro confirmed that TKO has “complete control” over WWE creative.

Speaking at the University of Alabama, TKO President Mark Shapiro addressed and defended the recent rise in celebrity appearances in WWE.

“Having Hollywood tie-ins, celebs, and stars like Logan Paul, Pat McAfee, Mark Wahlberg showing up and doing their thing, and Tyrese Haliburton getting into it in the ring with Jalen Brunson, that’s not new, it’s just on a larger stage now. We are spending a lot more money to market the brand and the content. And when you do that, you’re going to win some folks over, but you’re also going to lose some folks away.”

The IWC is never not upset.
Black and his wife gone too. HHH favorite.

Santos Escobar, who they paid a lot of money to keep, also gone.

Company has no idea what it's doing anymore.

Not because of the people they released, they're whatever, but they're all over the map.

Gotta cut salaries to make up for the underperforming WrestleMania ticket sales. Or whatever retarded logic these brainless bean counters use.

Fuck your own face, TKO. Time to give All Mudshow Wrestling another chance. This is egregious.

I remember MCMG were guys they went whole hog to get too a bit back. It's clear H has lost power.

Whatever, back into the wrestling wilderness for me. It was nice to pay attention for a little bit. But just like when Al died, the followup wasn't really any better in the long run.

Kairi, though? 🤦🏻‍♂️

She doesn't cut promos, not English ones anyway.

All they care about now is the entertainment bit really. It's just personalities, even more than Vince. People they can have show up on other TV shows. People they can sell. Name brand value.

They've traded Vince's obsession with size for an obsession with marketability.

The backstage segments with Kairi & Asuka and them was entertainment. They were building towards a Kairi face turn not long ago, which would lead one to believe they had at least something resembling a plan for her.

Oh well. Gotta make room for the low-cost NXT nobodies and more celebrities no one cares about.

Welcome to late stage WCW all over again. How long before they put the belt on Tony Hinchcliffe?

Oh, they were great, but that doesn't translate to social media stardom and views and clicks and all the other buzzword shit. I think H liked her, as she did well in NXT, and he helped bring her back, but, well...

Sadly, they're too big to fail, unlike WCW, but they'll just fully be an entertainment company really.

There's starting to be enough talent out there that H, for all his warts, could actually run a respectable 3rd company. It would at least actually focus on wrestling.

How long until the interchangeable Tongans all get the axe?
