So what did you think about that?

Jordan ran hard.

The defense was disappointing.

McCown looked better in the second half.

Play calling was more interesting.

We suck.

Game balls to Curry, Jordan and Morrison.

Everyone else gets a big 'Fuck you' from me.

Especially Jano and Huff. Schweig too.

Grove is trash.

The D is overrated. I think they let the press go to their head. No pressure at all from the front seven with a couple of exceptions. We have limited talent in the secondary and this will be exposed by teams with more than 2 receivers.

I don't even want to go into the QB position. Our play calling is severely limited by the throws that McCown can make. So what if Culpepper doesn't know all of the playbook? Half of the playbook can't be used with McCown at QB.

I love watching Curry, but it is only a matter of time before Porter starts crying.

Fargas is a nonfactor. He brings nothing to the table and he is not the change of pace that we keep touting him to be. Activate Adimchinobe Echemandu next week to spell Jordan. We could be nasty with Jordan and Rhodes and I can't wait to see Bush.

What free agent kickers are out there? Anyone else think that giving the kickers training camp off may not have been the smartest idea?

I was hoping for 8 and 8 this year, but I am not sure that is realistic. Detroit was supposed to be one of our gimme games and we had it handed to us...

Our meatball kicker is done, seriously.
I expect him to be cut.

I liked a lot of what I saw from the offense.
More shots downfield would have been nice, but what we saw today was a BIG improvement over last year.
Culpepper is our QB though.
McCown didn't do job #1 .... take care of the ball.
He needs to sit.

Defense disappointed me.
But I think we'll see that Detroit will score a lot of points this year.
They've got some things going for them on offense.

We didn't do much in the return game.

Too many penalties, too many turnovers.
Raider football.

Down, I am, but encouraged by some progress that I see.
We're on the road to being a competetive football team, folks.
Have a little bit o' patience with Lane.

Bad defensive gameplan by Rob Ryan... We sat in man off and zone shells and only rushed three or four guys... How about manning up and blitzing from multiple angles and making the QB beat you?... As it was, we let Martz's system that beat us more than Kitna...

Shitty safety play by everyone we put back there...

Jake Grove took it up the can all day by Rogers...

McCown confused everytime the Lions ran a zone blitz...

For all the promise of working the middle of the field with Miller and Madsen, it seems like McCown threw to the sidelines an awful lot... pretty much McCown's MO from preseason....

If Kiff is going to preach accountability, at the very least we should work out a new kicker this week... No camp competition brought in for him hasn't done us any good... How long does Jano continue to get a free pass?... Time to cut bait already... Bring in Vanderjact...

::sigh:: This organization has seriously beat me down...

I'm with you there HB. It's just not much fun anymore.

I told my golfing buddies I was done playing on Sundays now that football started. That's off. If the weather is good I'm playing on Sunday game or no game.

Good post Raider Destiny. I think we have way too much faith in this defense. They're relly not that good. The corners were exsposed today and as HBoy points out the safety play is just horrible. Michael Huff is as plain as white paper. Wasted pick at #7. Last year the defense benefitted because other teams were running the ball at will and passed only when they had too.

We let Kitna dictate the tempo for the most part. It's all about disrupting the timing in a Martz offense and we did nothing to slow them down. I realize it's the Lions and all but Huff and Scweig were no where to be found. Huff's been a major disappointment. Where was Thomas Howard today?

I'm with the camp to bring in a kicker:(

Here's my 2 cents...

Positives

- Curry: Guy is the best and most complete player on our entire roster. Played like an All Pro today.

- Aso: Outstanding in coverage today. The refs let them play, and he brought his A game. Very impressed.

- #58 (Clemons?): After seeing the way he played today, I think he should be our starter at DE. I liked what I saw.

- Morrison: Only because he made a great play in the beginning... but he was also beaten once or twice in pass coverage. Looked very good against the run.

Negatives

- Kiffin: Clearly outcoached today. We came out very flat, and a lot of people are going to point to the dog-n-pony show at QB and C as an unnecessary distraction. I'd have to agree at this point. His play calling in the 1st half was brutal. All pass, no run. Absolutely no reason McLoser should be putting the ball up 20 times in a half. Not surprisingly when we reintroduced the running play into our offense in the 2nd half, we also got in the endzone. His preseason decision to start McLoser was obviously a mistake. His preseason decision to give Jano the last 3 months off was obviously a mistake. I'm not about to throw the towel in on the guy, but he's got a monster of a learning curve ahead of him. Seems like a solid coordinator who is currently over his head as a HC. I just hope Al has the patience.

- Rob Ryan: Lost the X's and O's battle to Martz. He never got pressure from his front 4... but more importantly did nothing to make up for it. He's going to look back at the game tape and regret not blitzing more and wish he hadn't played as much zone as he did. Teams are going to look at how poor we defended the 4WR spread offense, and make that the blueprint to beat us through the air... but I still think we are going to be beaten more on the ground this year than through the air.

- McLoser: Confused... missed reads left and right (Porter was open almost the entire game and McLoser never even looked his way)... turned the ball over every chance he got... clearly Detroit knew how to beat him... and they did. This guy is a career loser... and we found a way to make him our starting QB.

- Burgess, Sapp: If these guys no - show like this on a consistent basis, it is going to be a long, long, long season for our defense. Horrific performance from both of them, especially Burgess. What really concerned me is they stopped doubling Burgess in the 2nd half and he still got no pressure. Makes you wonder if he has any lingering effects from that hernia surgery.

- Run defense: I didn't expect us to really improve in this area, but you kind of wonder if we took a step backwards here. This part of our defense really disappeared in the 2nd half.

- Safeties: Looked like 9 on 11 out there.

Bottom Line

We're still 2 touchdowns worse than the 2nd worst team in football. Team started out flat and laid down at the end. Wow! We've still got our best players riding the pine. Same 'ol sorry-assed Raiders. Just stick around til the 4th quarter, and they'll beat themselves.

I'm not sure what the point is here with this team.

Culpepper should be starting. Why isn't he? If he fucks up fine. Then I say get Russell in here and let him work for a couple of weeks and give him the Alex Smith baptism by fire. If he's the future let's get on with it. What's going on? Did somebody at Raiders Headquarters think we're a playoff team or something? I'm sure the fan base would rather see the youngsters play and get experience than to watch this mess get destroyed by fucking Detroit.

Sorry for all the negative stuff but I'm just flat out sick of this shit.

Yeah Lane, welcome to the Raiders. You have your work cut out for you if you can last long enough.

Now that Newberry is toast we're stuck with Grove at center? This guy is too small to play center. He was totally abused today getting pushed back into the QB's face...just flat out UGLY.

I'm already sick of making excuses for Michael Huff. Another player taken too high in the draft. He's not done a single thing wearing our colors. Pitiful.

The bar was too loud for me to hear the crowd... but this didn't take long...

The Raiders fans disagreed with the decision to start McCown, booing the offense and chanting "Daunte! Daunte!" after McCown was intercepted early in the third quarter.

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/recap?gameId=270909013
... and as pissed as we are right now, I can't even begin to fathom how bad Kiffin is going to get roasted by the Bay Area media... Live and learn, bud.

Actually, McCown did enough to give us a chance to win, he didn't exactly stink it up with 300+ yards passing. It's really unfair to place the blame on him. Jordan did his part and the OL, for the most part was decent. Ron Curry, what can you say.

I do agree that Grove is a huge liability. Did anyone put in a waiver claim for Greg Eslinger yet? Newberry looks like he's done, dude gave it a valiant effort but we pretty much knew he was running on fumes.

This one is on Ryan and his inability to game plan vs Martz. It was a harbinger of bad things when we had Kitna pinned on his one and let them march down the field in 3 plays.

Well I think we did some positive things on offense moving the ball. It was Detroit, but it appears we'll be able to run the ball some and we hae players and playcalling that seems capable of working well in the short areas.

I don't understand the whole McCown thing. I had no idea his arm was so dead. When he runs he carries the ball like a loaf a bread and takes hits like fargas.... the guy is obviously career backup material. Now that I think of it I'm wondering just haow many games this guy has started?...can we count them on one on both hands?

I gotta wonder if Culpepper is niot starting within the next couplea weeks does that mean something is fundamentally wrong with Kiffin's judgement? I heard something about him desiring a vocal leader, and McCowns the only one we've got, but...come on... the guy is busch league.

Defense was dissappointing. I think we did all over value them... maybe because it was the only thing going last season, but they could still use an elite player or two. That said, I agree that we could hvwe schemed way better. Speed is our great asset on D and we should be utilizing that speed from everywhere on the field to generate pressure. Obviuosly any veteran QB is going to pick you appart when he's just standing back there... even Peyton Manning looks second rate when he's got someone in his face all afternoon, come on Ryan show some bvalls and blitz some a these athletes we got.

Jano has me pining for the days of Cole Ford... there is nothing worse than never knowing what you'll get from your asshole kicker.

I thank him for doing enough to stabalize the position from the absolute garbage we had before him, but he's never developed beyond his rookie performance. This is definatly a position where the 'no scholarship' policy should be in effect. I also agree with whoever said they'd gladly pay that 3 mill for Vinetari rioght now. With him we're in that game till the end, maybe win it. With Jano I gotta close my eyes and listen for the crown reaction

Bottom line is I'm willing to give Kiff his due honeymoon, but I really have no patience left for this team, and it's hard for me tolerate stupid shit like an obviously inferior QB, and screwball kicker with a scatter leg.

Lets be smart enough to get the best players on the field already!

The Good

The offense moved the ball. We scored points, Lane Kiffin gave Rob Ryan the 17 + points the defense has been asking for? I like the new offense but we need to stretch the field more. No deep ball to Higgins?

The Bad

Penalties and turnovers. WTF. They killed us. We need to play a lot smarter or we are going to be drafting #1 again. It was a close game but we just fumbled the ball away too much.

The Ugly

Defense. I thought Kiffin and company called a better game than Rob Ryan. Our defense got worked. If anyone got out coached it was Ryan. It felt like watching a Michigan game, as soon as the spread comes out its over. We had no answer. No pressure either. Why doesnt Ryan use Thomas Howard's speed like San Diego uses Phillips and Merriman off the edge?

Overall

Im obviously disappointed in our defense. They were suppose to be the heart and soul of this team and Shitna looked like John Freakin Elway. BUT i am very pleased with Kiffin's offense. It was our first game and we battled back from a 17 point hole. The O-Line looked way better than last year as did the running game.

Players

Lamont Jordan- Way to show some heart
Clemons- Moses who?
Routte- kids got football skills too, not just speed. Stay healthy
Curry- love this guy. Best player on offense
Gallery- Solid play. Should stay at LG
Z.Miller- good day, but fall on the fucking ball!
KirkMorrison- Beast, playmaker, but he needs some work in coverage.

Jano Fuck you go home and overdose on X and OC's and die you worthless fuck. What round did we draft this KICKER in gain?
Michael Huff show the fuck up and make some plays. He disappears. That isnt always terrible for a DB, but not for a #7 overall pick.
Burgess and Sapp Needed some plays out of you guys today, got 0.
J.Grove Fuck You, You suck you fucking pussy.
J.Porter I thought Mike Williams was the guy who couldnt get seperation
J.McCown Protect the ball! Not a terrible game but stop holding the fucking ball so long. 3 fumbles and 2 picks.
Daunte its your turn to show you can protect the football.
JaMarcus this is a first for me but.... FUCK YOU. Get your big fat dumb country ass in camp and do your job you greedy POS. We need this asshole to play this season at some point. Thats seems obvious after today.
Stu Swag You and Huff are like the invisible woman and her other invisble girlfriend who cant tackle worth a shit. You two assclowns have the best seats in the stadium. Why dont you have a beer while you chill?
Rob Ryan Head Coach huh. Not if Martz and Kitna make your #1 pass defense looked like a CFL team. You had a long time to prepare for Martz spread offense. They werent planning on beating us with Tatum Bell. Even though they could have. Piss poor effort by the D coaches and players.

I never have figured out why we didn't go after Kevin Mawae. The guy had alot left in the tank, he's nasty and he was the leader of that offense... maybe the entire team... till Young came to town.

Grove obviously isn't the answer... this is his 4th season for cryin out loud.

LMAO....

Too funny dude, I'd rep you if I wasn't web-tarded.

Now that is funny. I couldn't agree more.

Seems like Jano is on his game when the score is meaningless. Anytime he has to make a kick with momentum on the line, he fuggs up. No excuses for missing off the dirt either. Hanson nailed two from 40+ and the mo fo kicks indoors at home. Then Jano squibs the kick right after we score to take the lead and Detroit starts the drive near their 40.

Fucking guy is unaccountable. I guarantee, Medlock at KC is going to have some competition before the end of the year. If Vanderjagt's still out there, let's bring him in. This won't be the last time that Jano costs us this year.

Yeah, fuckin Jano makes his reputation with 55 yarders in practice with laps on the line.

Everytime he faces something important in a real game he dissappoints.

A loss isnt that important to him. But you know his fat ass will make one so he doesnt have to run laps.

Watched this game at a bar. Would love to say that I was surprised, but when we took the 21-20 lead I still had serious doubts. Why? Detroit was passing on us all day we had ZERO pass rush.

Bones - "The Pass Rush Sucks"

How long will this last?

McCown? Not horrible, but his arm strength is below average IMO (which limits our ability to attack a Defense) and he did seem very hesitant. Put in Culpepper, please.

Offensive Line? Looked much improved over last year. Not All-Pro or anything, but NFL adequate. Nice starting point IMO.

Jake Grove is a bitch. Next.

LaMont Jordan? Looked good catching the football and was effective when running North-South. Could be a rebound year for LJ.

Ronald Curry? Continues to justify my "best player on offense" tag.

Jerry Porter? Someone please tell him that Art Shell was fired and the season has started.

Zach Miller? Will only get better. Solid start. Looks good in #80.

Defense? I'm not that surprised by this. I mentioned yesterday that Detroit would move the ball between the 20's, but I still expected more pressure.

Special Teams? Nothing from Carr or Higgins, but at least the coverage was mostly solid.

Jano? I've hated this guy for 3 years so you can imagine how I feel about him now. yeah, yeah, I'm glad he "looks like a Raider", but that's about it. He sucks.

Playcalling? A bit horizontal for me, but I'll have to give the coaching staff the benefit of the doubt. The Line is still a work in progress and McCown has a bitch arm.

Bottom Line? This team has improved, but if the losses mount early, which seems very likely, I wonder about our mental toughness to endure it? Detroit is potent on offense and don't we all wich we'd drafted Calvin Johnson now?

Is is Denver next week? They are overated. We've got a puncher's chance IMO.....
