FROM THE WTF file is he thinking........

Steelers | Roethlisberger simply a product of system, according to Schweigert
Sun, 29 Oct 2006 04:48:29 -0800

Steve Corkran, of the Contra Costa Times, reports Oakland Raiders FS Stuart Schweigert considers Pittsburgh Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger as simply a product of the team's system and the situation he walked into three seasons ago. "Ben Roethlisberger is a good player," Schweigert said. "I don't think he's a great player. He had great players around him last year, with a great coach and a great defense. This year, some of his weapons have been down a little bit, and that's affected him."

JUST ADDED!!!!

Raiders | Shell critical of Gallery
Sat, 28 Oct 2006 08:59:44 -0700

Jerry McDonald, of ANG Newspapers, reports Oakland Raiders head coach Art Shell says OT Robert Gallery has struggled with his mechanics this season, particularly his footwork and use of hands in pass protection. "He's not where we want him to be or where he wants to be. He's had some struggles, he's quite aware of that," Shell said of Gallery. "It's all about mechanics. The mechanical things he's doing have to be perfect all the time. He can do them very well out here at practice. But when he gets in the game, he loses the concept of what he has to do and how he has to do it. So we've got to try to beat his brain and get it engrained in his mind that this is what you have to do, this is how you have to set and this is how you have to use your hands in pass protection. And he doesn't always do that. So that gets him into trouble.''

Schweigert just made himself look like an idiot, even if it's true. I'm glad we finally made a decision with Porter. He has to either play or be released.

Stu speaks the truth. Why call him out for it?

If Ben came out and started saying how sh*tty Stu's tackling is and how he's slow in coverage Raider fans would call Ben a jackass. You don't go calling players out (who are better than you) in the press. Ben has a SB ring...Stu has been in the cellar his entire career. He made himself look like an idiot.

Um, yeah. It's not like Schweigert is Ed Reed. Dummy. Why call them out like that? It's pretty low-class.

As if Pitt needed any more incentive.

I don't see how he made himself look like an idiot. He said that Ben was a good QB, but the players around him made him look better. Now that those players around him are dinged up, he's not looking as good. Where's the slam in that?

It's not that Sut is an idiot or not. He had no reason to open his friggin' mouth. Locker room wallpaper this Raiders team doesn't need. We beat one team who is on a six game losing streak and all of a sudden our non tackling FS is ready to trash talk. Pleeeeease. STFU dummy.

so we can't be low class to other teams for once in awhile instead of ourselves?:p

It's obvious that our secondary is the strength of our defense, perhaps the Raiders (via Stu's comment) are trying to bait Pittsburgh into passing more than they normally would?

This team has no business mouthing off. We're shit and now we're acting like we're all that? WTF? Shut up and do your talking on the field. It's a lot more effective that way IMO.

#30 is fast becoming my personal whipping boy. I don't like his game much. Now get out there and hit somebody homey. Let's kick some Steelr ass (I think we can win this game)...but do it with some class. We're just not good enough to be running our mouths BEFORE the game.

I have no problem with Stu saying that. I don't want sportsmanship from my free safety. Talk all the shit you can, Stu. Give him another concussion. Make him throw up. Hit him with a Buick. Slip him a roofie, then steal one of his kidneys.

I doubt the Steelers need bulletin board material to beat this team, and I don't think Stu's comments are gonna make Ben play any better, if he even plays.

Regarding Porter, I hope he goes nuts the rest of this season, and gets traded along with Moss.

I feel you, but I contend that our best chance to win this game is to force Pittsburgh to pass. With Burgess bearing down on the pass rush and our quick secondary, I like our chances to snare a couple of passes from Roesthlisberger.

They are probably too smart to be baited, but you never know....

well you can call cower an idiot fort saying burgess i s still nfl lead pass rusher:D

i dont mind stu mouthing off... I think we can win this game and Stu obviously does too... Give em hell stu!

Schweig is not a player who has earned the 'talking trash about other players' moniker yet.

The guy should be a backup. Ben would start for us.

Dumbass thing to say, IMO.

Me either... I do however want my FS to be looking at what he hits and not down at the grass...

Personally, I'll never understand this Roethlisberger is a product of the system stuff... Predraft all the critics were saying that he was a product of a shotgun spread offense system and that he'd have to learn to make reads form under center... The Iowa game was constantly quoted as proof that he couldn't play against a defense that forced him to be patient... Now he shows that he can play from under center in an offense that asks him to be patient and he's a product of said system?... I don't get it...

I'll take Ben over 90% of the QB's in the league... Big arm, moves well in and out of the pocket, tough and plays with poise...
