So... I dunno about you guys, but I'm happy we ended up with Kiffin here.

I don't see that these other two guys have done jackshit for their teams.

You know Al is feeling like the smartest guy in the league right now plucking Kiffin from obscurity and all.
 
Im happy too.

Lord knows Im glad we don't have Linehan or Payton.

At this point, I like what I see from Whisenhunt, although having a guy like Russ Grimm (Who is a friggin head coach at this point) makes things easier.

Kiffin>Petrino IMO.

Bernard Petrino kind of walked into a pretty good situation that ended up blowing up in his face with the Vick fiasco... Coaching nomad that he is, it wouldn't surprise me if he has an eye out on that Michigan job opening....

Can I take option D? Kiff hired last year and the memory of last season wiped completely out of my mind?...


Speaking of coulda's and shoulda's... Haloti Ngata sure looked pretty good tonight.... I don't know if I'd use him in coverage on so many zone blitz looks, but we sure could use that kind of disruptive beef in the middle of our D-line... Just sayin'...
 
I'd say Kiffin has looked better than Whiz and Petrino

Petrino seems like a guy that just cant get his players to buy into what he is doing, and Whiz seems like he is a good coach, but that team should be doing far better than they have

but IMO, Kiffin has taken a very crappy situation and made more than the most of it. he has taken a team that was being blown out every game last year and turned them into a team that is in position to win week after week
 
None of those 3 has been impressive by any standard. I think it's interesting though that Kiffin was able to come back and make better adjustments to his divisional opponents a 2nd time around. If he does the same against the Chargers, then I might reconsider.

That said... the only young coach worth talking about right now is Tomlin. He's better than all 3 of those other guys combined.... multiplied by 10.
 
It's hard to say for sure how W'hunt or Bernard would have done here.
All I know is that I'm satisfied with the direction of the team under Kiffin.
The 6 game losing streak was brutal, but he's righted the ship, and 2 straight division wins doesn't suck for a change.
We once again look to be a team on the rise, and we've got a lot of promising youngsters to be excited about.
I hope we can nail down at least one more win.
I think we will.
Two would make my pants wet.

Considering he inherited a team that was just in the Superbowl a couple years ago, I'd say his situation is hardly comparable. Put his ass in Oakland, Arizona, or Atlanta and get back to me.
 
To me Kiffin was the perfect fit. The Raiders seem to do better with young coaches with a lot of ego and high energy levels than the old used up retreads.

BTW it's totally funny when they put the camera on that old dog Cam Cameron. Talk about the deer in the headlights. Fuck him. I'm so glad we didn't get that guy. He doesn't have the balls to figure out this mess in Oaktown. Kiffin has the energy.

As for Bernard. Fuck him too. It's nice to see him frustrated altough I have to admiot I wanted him in Oakland. Wiz has Zona poised to make the playoffs... :bugeye:
 
But perfectly qualified to have the Steelers underachieving every other week?

What Crow said. To be hard of Kiff for having half the roster that Tomlin does is like comparing apples and oranges, fat chicks and Victoria Secret models.

In regards to Tomlin, why? He had the best situation of any of the new coaches and had to do little or nothing? In my mind he has shown no more than Callahan in that he is keeping someone elses team pointed in the right direction. Name one thing he has done that makes the Steelers his team?
 
For fuck sake, Tomlin has the best defensive co-ordinator and the number one ranked defence BY FAR in yards against and points against.

He also came in with a young franchise QB, RB, TE and two top tier wideouts that were all there when they won the Super Bowl 2 years ago.

The dude was handed a gift...Not a rebuilding team with little talent.

A team that was .500 last year, but is 9-3 and 5-0 in their division is "underachieving every other week"... That's some quality bull shit, bro.

That's what happens when your a more qualified head coaching prospect. You go after and get the better jobs... and to his credit, he's done a great job with what he's been given.
 
last year is almost totally on the shoulders of Roethlisberger's accident to go along with the hanging speculation of Cowher retiring.

fact remains, tomlin was handed a playoff team and has them looking like a playoff team.

kiffin was handed a team that couldnt beat some college squads last year, yet has them in position to win week after week
 
Like it or not Kiffin is getting things in order. He had the balls to take the job and is starting to turn heads with the job he's doing. It's not an easy job. He had/has a lot of cleaning up to do. This off season will be very interesting to watch what the kid does with this roster and some of the vets hanging around. I expect a lot of changes.

For me he's a breath of fresh air. We're seeing some results. Tom Cable has done an amazing job getting this OL to do anything. And believe it or not they are coming together. That isn't to say we don't need to upgrade some of the talent on that line but still it's pretty incredible. Wasn't it Kiffin who went after Cable and brought him in? The kid has his head on straight and more importantly he has a plan and he's doling it his way. I don't buy into the " Al Davis is meddling" theory. I don't think he is. And without being in the building and seeing and hearing it first hand it's just pure speculation.
