Parcells has retired from coaching the Cowboys (per ESPN radio). A couple of questions.

1. Where are we with Lombardi? Is his contract up in March? Lombardi is not listed among the early leaders for the Titans job, but there were rumors he might be headed for Jets. Anyway Parcells lands as GM with Raiders?

2. What does the Cowboy HC vacancy do for our HC search? Rumors already amok that Cowher is the guy for the job.

3. What does this mean for T.O.?

AP wire says he is retiring from coaching football not just coaching the Cowboys.

how much you want to bet Dallas hires their next coach before we do.

That seems to be the way we do things, so the choice is to be Raiders HC or wait a year.

If Al Davis has a brain he'd hire Parcells as the teams General Manager in charge of football operations.

We'd have instant credibility. but, of course, after Parcells' experience with Jerry Jones in Dallas that will never happen because Al isn't giving up control.

Same 'ol shit.

It sounded like Parcells may be done for good. He's 65 and burnt out. Unless Al offers him a piece of the team, I doubt it.

1. Davis is going to have to give up a piece of that 31% stake in the team to get Parcells. I've read in a couple different places that part of the reason Parcells came back was to recoup the money he lost in a divorce settlement that went bad. If Parcells is going to be a GM, somebody is going to have to offer up the farm to get him.

2. Somebody is going to have to convince Davis that he needs to replace himself as GM. Good Luck.

It's all comming together.

:::Al rubs hands together in Monty Burns fashion:::

"Eeeeexcellent...."

I dunno, just last month he had his hat in the ring for the Giants GM job, yes?...

Tuna doesn't strike me as the type to sit around and live a conventional life away from football... and as much as he seems to despise the media, I can't see him wanting a TV job like that swarmy ass Jimmy Johnson...

I agree that Al would have to make one hella of an offer to even up the chance from none to slim, but I think Parcells will pop up in a GM role somewhere.... I think he would be a perfect fit and go a long way towards repairing the blasts we've taken across the bow these past few years, but I'm not getting my hopes up....

Yes it would be perfect. But Al would have to relinquish almost all control of the football operations and as noted already probably give Parcells that 30% he could barley afford to pay for...

For get it. Next...

I'd like Parcells as a GM, not a coach. Strange as it might sound, I think his best coaching days waived bye-bye loooong ago.

I'm not even convinced that he'd be a great GM at this point, but perception IS reality and it would be a boost in the arm if he joined the Raiders.
