Panthers Like Brady?

There is some talk around the Senior Bowl that Panthers representatives showed a special interest in Quinn when he made his surprise appearance on Monday. John Fox and Notre Dame head coach Charlie Weis go way back and Carolina may be looking for 31-year-old Jake Delhomme's successor. Delhomme struggled in 2006, so Quinn could be starting by mid-season if Delhomme falters again, and the Panthers trade up in the first round. Currently holding the No. 14 overall pick, Carolina would likely have to shop a Kris Jenkins or a Chris Gamble to move up the board, possibly dangling Gamble and their pick to Detroit at No. 2. Despite a rough Sugar Bowl, I can't see Quinn falling past Miami at No. 9.

Also...
The weather in Mobile isn't great. The temperature at Ladd-Peebles Stadium has yet to reach 50 degrees and it's been raining. That makes for some good adverse conditions in which to test the quarterbacks on hand, and so far Heisman Award winner Troy Smith and Michigan State's Drew Stanton have answered the bell.

Most observers were convinced Stanton, who I touched on in our last segment of Draft '07: "Unfinished Business," was inconsistent on Monday but found a groove yesterday. Smith was regarded as the most impressive quarterback in the field the first day, when he also tipped the scales at a respectable 6-0/222. Stanton, Smith, and Houston's Kevin Kolb are vying to be the No. 3-rated signal caller heading to the Combine.

Kris Jenkins is always hurt, and Gamble is ehhh. How about peppers for our #1!

I'll take their first, second, next year's first and Mike Rucker.

I'd probably co-sign that. Besides, Marshawn Lynch could very well slide to #14 and with the additional 2nd rounder, we could easily package picks and move up again to nab someone else?

Mike Rucker would be nice in Silver & Black. Nice.

Rucker's game has kinda tailed off some. Make it their 1, 2, and Delhomme and I'm in. Yeah, he tailed off last year too. But having a veteran QB around is rarely a bad thing.

1, 2, and next years 1 and 3 would sell me.

or next years 1 and kris jenkins if they are really shopping him.

I say we be done with QB mess already. Take Russell and Anbtonio Pittman will be there in rd 3.

Jordans making some coin next year and theres no reason the be paying a #1 RB and Jordan

Fargas and Jordan and Pittman will be fine just as Raider007 mentioned.

I'd be shocked if this team team wins 10 games next year. Probably wont happen.

Next years draft is loaded with RB's. Thats when we need to make our move.

Right now we need to get this QB and OL starighten out. You get a OL that can open up lanes and an average RB will have a good solid year.

Take the QB and lets be done with that position already.

Good point Nips. If we can get this Oline coaching sorted out and make a couple of moves in free agency then that could smooth things along. If we go to the zone/cut blocking scheme then isn't it all about being able to pick up backs later in the draft, slot them in and there is your 1200 yard rusher?

Plus, for what it's worth.. I think Fargas would be a deadly 'one cut and GO' RB. He's got that burst and top end speed that would make for a lot of big gains.

True.. but I think he put a lot of those injury-question marks to bed this past season. If he can do it again.. then I'm willing to let go of my "glass joe" label for "Justine" (of which, I think he's earned his way out of this last nickname... dude was a baller all year.)

He definitely ran hard. 3.7 ypc ain't all that bad considering the circumstances.
I watched him lower the shoulder and even drag some guys as well. I was quite impressed. Looks like a damn solid backup/rotation NFL-caliber RB.

Yahtzee. Bingo. You sank my battleship.

I'd shit myself for this trade.

Delhomme/Lynch/Rice/Olsen/Beekman on Day 1. An upgrade at every fucking position on the offense.

What a fucking haul that would be. And we'd still have Moss and Porter on the roster to do with as we pleased.

That's a great point, his game is made for that system... one cut seems to be about all he's got in him on any given run, but he sure can accelerate.

Hmm....
