Chiefs | Dunn on the bubble?
Fri, 31 Aug 2007 09:47:31 -0700

Bob Gretz, of KCChiefs.com, reports Kansas City Chiefs TE Jason Dunn may not make the team's final roster.

I'd take him in a heartbeat as TE #3

Byron Leftwich out in J-Ville. Not that we need to jack up our QB schmorgasboard anymore than it already is, but interesting nonetheless.

EAGLES ACCIDENTALLY LEAK CUTS?

Multiple readers, and apparently some Philly media, discovered on Friday afternoon that the Philadelphia Eagles inadvertently posted their final roster cuts on the team's official site, apparently via a page that transmits data to wireless devices. The cuts are due to be made by 6:00 p.m. on Saturday.

Several readers have informed us that the players who appeared on the list, which has since been changed to this, were as follows:

RB Nate Ilaoa; FB Jason Davis; FB/LS Jeremy Cain; WR Jeremy Bloom; WR J.J. Outlaw; WR Michael Gasperson; WR Zac Collie; TE Lee Vickers; T Jonathan Palmer; C Jasper Harvey; G Jacob Hobbs; T Pat McCoy; DE Marques Murrell; DT Mauricio Lopez; DT Ian Scott; LB Akeem Jordan; LB Dedrick Roper; CB Dustin Fox; CB Nick Graham; S Marcus Paschal; S Erick Harris; and P Dirk Johnson.

We've separately learned that Bloom, a fifth-round draft pick who spent the 2006 season on IR, has indeed been cut (or at a minimum has been informed that he'll be cut).

In addition to the cuts, we have a feeling that someone there is gonna get fired.

actually... id be for dumping mccown or walter in favor of lefty... Always liked that kid. just imagine a 3 way deep ball competition of JRuss Lefty and Culpepper

Can somebody tell me the difference between being waived and being released. Must be some technicality.

Bones, this is the best I could do for ya....

A player who is waived is subject to the waiver process - meaning they are available to every team in reverse order of the standings to be claimed. Vested veteran players are not subject to waivers - the have the right to sign with anyone they want. So a veteran player is never ``waived,'' although there are times the terms are interchanged and used incorrectly. ``Cut'' is a generic term which would probably be OK for either instance, because the player is no longer with the team.

Im pretty sure thats about right.

Schefter saying that ATl still very much interested in Andrew Walter and that Jax may be in the fold as well after they release Leftwich.

4/5th round pick is what we get for AW IMO

Redskins | Team may be interested in Gabriel
Fri, 31 Aug 2007 15:53:33 -0700

Jason La Canfora, of the Washington Post, reports the Washington Redskins may be interested in signing unrestricted free-agent WR Doug Gabriel (Raiders).
hopefully i hear no waffle belly aching if he does well and our WR's drop passes. :nono:

Texans | Poole released
Fri, 31 Aug 2007 15:25:20 -0700

Megan Manfull, of the Houston Chronicle, reports the Houston Texans have released CB Tyrone Poole.
he played pretty solid for us.

So you are in favor of signing a QB whos mobility is less than AW's and whos release is glacial? Not to mentioon the fact that he would want much more in terms of pay? Where is the logic? We are going to regret releasing AW before the season is done.

I suspect if AWAL is traded, the Russell deal is imminent because I wouldn't want to go into the season with Pep's knee, McCown and Otis. That's a real scary proposition.

Otis is gone last i checked.

I'd be pretty amazed if we got that... It would be about as good a landing spot as AW could hope for... Bernard Petrino surely watched some tape on him when Lombardi was trying to bring him aboard as coach last offseason and the fans expectations would be quite low after being dealt the Harrington hand this year...

I'd take a look at Ian Scott as a potential backup to Sands at NT... I'm hoping for a veteran corner, but I'm not expecting anyone worth a crap to come free...

I hate Andrew Walter, but the only reason I would want him out of Oakland is if it is a precursor to the JR signing.

Once JR is in the fold, punt Walter to the Queefs, for all I care. He's got no Gannon or Plunkett in him, IMO.

Hate to break the news to ya, but none of our qb's do.
