Yes, I'm the three drops of water is half full guy.
D-line: Maxx had a bad wheel starting week 2, Wilkins out week 5, Koonce out all year, and Adam Butler showed more last season than he had before.
Spillane had his moments, Diablo was only better than anyone else. The FAs and Gainer with the 7th round draft pick are probably a slight upgrade.
Boom/bust Loveboat is gone and Bennett is back. Stokes offers more reliable play, and Porter and Richardson (a whole season behind him) are better depth than last year. Moehrig will be missed, but Chinn under PG can do more against TEs, and Palo Malo has a year. Depth is an issue, maybe last year's 7th rounder will step up.
On O, fuck. Simply starting the year with a competent OC not trying to change the whole run block scheme that was a bad fit is a big improvement. Entire O-line could be back, with Rogers offering more beef at LG.
Jeanty is the best offseason RB acquisition for any team. Bowers is back and seems like Mayer is too, so 12 personnel is a thing. Meyers, Tucker, Bech are a better threesome than eeyore Adams and the other two.
With Miscue, O'Connell and Ridder Bowers and Meyers caught for over a thousand yards. Geno Smith is a huge upgrade. And Bech and Meyers are solid run blockers, and both Tucker and Thornton have been mentioned by the OC and GM as run blockers.
Long runs happen because of WR blocking. In the whole NFL, what other team has two WR who are effective at cracking DEs?
And Pegues offers a big help on short yardage/goal line.
This O could score a lot and chew clock -- and that makes defenses look better. And PG has the formula for beating the Chefs.
