Felt we needed a place to discuss and shit on as necessary - the other afc west teams.

I wanted to point out the absolute disaster of a draft for the broncos this year. Yes they had a solid first round pick in Barron. But every other pick was a reach and not on guys I felt were worth it. Rj Henry might be a good back. But in a class this deep... taking him in the 2nd was a stretch. Pat Bryant in the 3rd was a head scratcher for me. Was a late 3rd day guy in my eyes. Jones was a safe pick to bolster the dl. But then another reach in que Robinson, a punter, and a 7th round TE... if they want to compete with Nix, they need to do more around him. If Harvey doesn't start... this could be a 0 starter draft. Barron should overtake moss at some point.

But could you name the broncos wrs outside of Sutton? Rbs outside of the aforementioned Harvey? Tight ends? Oh right they signed evan engram who has been a meh receiving only TE wherever he's been.

Think they surprised some teams last year. I don't see this offense getting them to the playoffs.

I know this is not on topic, but does involve the Broncos.
My son is attending the wedding of a college team mate of his this week.
Denver’s TE Adam Troutman.

We should be able to close the gap a little bit with the other teams and get back competitive in most games. I don't know what the fuck the Broncos were doing, but they do have a pretty good roster already. That FA class is already starting off rocky with Greenlaw hurt.

Chefs are gambling on that tackle's knee, but otherwise, their draft looks meh.

Chargers draft looks meh too. Everyone will be comparing all three of our early round backs' production.

It's going to be competitive again. We just need to get a whole lot better on defense. I think Chip should get some points on the board to make that the big part of our team that will noticeably improve immediately.

It's still a tough ass division but the Chiefs have lost a little bit of luster and I don't think the Broncos/Chargers are going to be 'great' teams, but they'll be good. Still thinking 8-9 wins would be a successful first year for Pete.

The deal with Nix is that he is a system QB, cannot make all the throws, and now there is a whole year of film on him. Nothing in the draft or FA moved that team forward. The D is small as always, so a power run game will wear them down.

The Dolts had the one year Harbaugh bump and we'll see but they don't scare anyone. Just have to play sound football.

Now the Chefs, with all the ball-washing and Mahomes deification, one would think they were a juggernaut that could not be beaten. Yet Graham has the formula, and the last four times we faced them it was with O'Connell, O'Connell, Miscue, O'Connel. In those four games, lost by 14, won by six lost by a TD, and lost by two. Both games last season were without Wilkins or Koonce or Bennett.

The Raiders improved far more. With the D mid-league level but generating also mid-league level turnovers, the O improved and red zone fixed, the Raiders will make a lot of noise in the division.

It is early but difficult not to be impressed by some of the moves made to improve the Raiders. I agree with those that do think this team is no longer a bottom feeder in the AFC West. They will be competitive.

How that competition plays out, I really don't have an idea right now. And I guess that means things have changed.

He can make all the throws.

So could Gannon, in theory. But not with the arm strength to fit it into a tight window. With the recovery speed of Bennett Stokes, and Porter, deep balls are going to be an issue.

Until we take out Mahomes in a big way, we’re fighting a generational talent, a HOF coach and a league who wants them to win every close game.
How did the Bears draft Mitch Trubisky over him?
Die Chiefs Die

We might have done enough to get out of the basement.
It might be close with the Bronco's. They didn't beat anyone with a winning record last year if my memory is correct.

I think we will be lucky to make it a 3 way race. Because it pains me what the chargers are doing. Similar team building but they had a lead on us. Chiefs lost a little luster this super bowl.

Offensively - no juggernauts in our division. All teams have "thier guy" at qb. 3 new RBs drafted this year will start. No dominant WRs. In fact Jakobi might be the best. Sutton in that conversation. McConkey is likely 3rd. TE - noone close to Brock. Chargers have invested in the OL and it shows. Broncos are solid there as well - we are close to them and maybe better. Chiefs have issues there - Humphrey and Trey are studs but they traded thier best in Thuney and are praying for guys to step up and step in.

Defensively there are a lot of stars and the broncos have a stellar unit on paper. But a best of the afc west would look like an all pro roster. We added Maxx and Wilkins to that conversation. Hopefully our FAs and draft picks push our unit up. We are taking big swings. If we make smart fa adds/trades we could move up.

The one place we stand out is we have the best k/p pair by far.

How we end up will depend on how/when/if some guys develop. Pete is a guy who will push that hard.

Their defensive roster is pretty impressive. This is going to be a tough division since there are no gimmes. All three teams should take a step back though, but the Chefs have the X factor at QB that makes their steps back minimal.

We suck and we're in the basement of the division until we prove otherwise.

This is how I see it. We don't have a lot of proven commodities here. It's Jakobi, Brock, and Geno on O and Maxx on D, and everybody else has a lot to prove. Almost our whole defensive back 7 is going to be new and a work in progress.
