On the draft front

Commissioner Roger Goodell announced Monday that the league plans to make the NFL Draft more fan and TV friendly.

Teams will have 10 minutes rather than 15 to make first-round picks and time limits for later rounds will also be reduced. The NFL is also considering scheduling the Pro Bowl between the conference championship games and the Super Bowl. That would obviously eliminate players on playoff teams.

Never happen. Playoffs teams would have a legit gripe about not having sufficient, nay, fair !!! preparation time.

I do like that they are possibly going to shorten this to 10 minute intervals in the 1st round.
 
Going to 10 mins is certainly a good idea. The pro bowl always strikes me as pointless, but I don't think moving it is a good idea.

I think the skills competition is better then the pro-bowl.
I would like to see some simple QB, WR, D-linemen, O-Line, & RB skills. Nothing like beach football or nothing that guys are doing too much that they get hurt.
I honestly don't think they will ever cancel the game but I am not a fan of the Pro-Bowl at all.
 
I tried watching the pro bowl for years but after ten minutes i tend to get bored and change channel or do something else. In my opinion maybe the format should be changed to an Oscar type presentation (on stage), where there would be candidates for every possition and finally best offensive, deffensive, MVP exct. players selected. But at the same token to listen to some of these players attempt to mutter out their acceptance speech maybe too hard to bear. JMO

........... bout freakin' time they did this. Once the Super Bowl is over, so is the season... making the Pro Bowl irrelevant...

Now moving it in between the conference championships and SB is a win-win. It now gets the media off the Super Bowl teams' ass for a week so those guys can actually prepare for the game...

For the fans, it takes the microscope off the big game for a week making it a hell of a lot less anti-climactic when the game fffffffffffffffffffffinally arrives. Plus getting to see your favorite players and all the accompanying hype one last time before the season's over will most certainly guarantee higher ratings... Hell... I'd even watch the game.

That has to be the most jackassed comments I've ever read. How would players that lost in the wildcard round or divisional round not be able to play in the game? Hell... even players that lost in the conference championship would still have a week.

If anything, this now opens up spots for the 5 or 10 players that are playing in the Super Bowl... I'm sure the guys playing in the Super Bowl couldn't care less about missing the Pro Bowl... they're playing in the freakin' Super Bowl.................. just as I'm sure the fringe guy that makes the Pro Bowl in place of the Super Bowl player won't be just as grateful...

Amazing the things the NFL can do now that they have a real commissioner in place... This Goodell guy should seriously consider running for President. He'd have my vote.
