One thread, less mess.

Gonzo re-signs.

Kansas City Chiefs President Carl Peterson announced on Friday that TE Tony Gonzalez agreed in principle to a five-year contract extension. As per Chiefs policy, no further terms of the agreement were announced.

“Simplistically, we’re very pleased to get this done,” Peterson said. “It will, in all essence, allow Tony Gonzalez to finish his career with the Kansas City Chiefs. The obvious is he’s been a very, very productive player for us. I think for our fans in Kansas City it was important for us to get this done. He’s done a marvelous job for us both on and off the football field.”

green's fall off makes it easy to sign gonzo since i doubt they get an expensive qb this coming season.

I'm praying this means he got his $15+ million in guaranteed money he was wanting.

The Chiefs just blew the roof off the pay scale for tight ends.

the Chiefs' Tony Gonzalez told FOXSports.com that he is very close to a five-year extension to remain in Kansas City rather than hit the free agent market. The deal includes a stunning $17.750 million in guaranteed bonus money and averages more than $6.25 million per year — huge numbers for a tight end — with $18.750 million over the first three years.

In comparison, Chargers All-Pro tight end Antonio Gates had $10 million guaranteed in his deal.
