*** Official not too soon 2024 draft thread***

I liked Burrow, Tua, and Lawrence of all of them. Didn't like Allen. Didn't like any of the busts much. Annoys me even more Young's been bad since I loved him.

The point is spot in though, or least for me. I wouldn’t even attempt to predict anymore. Really it’s hard to predict any position with this organization. People probably will want to plug their ears for this but it wouldn’t surprise me to see us stick with Aidan for another year barring a complete implosion. Still plenty of football left to be played though.

To be fair, he probably ran further in that one play than Jamarcus has in his entire life.

He was also soft for a dude that weighed 265 lbs. I remember a play where he ran the ball and the defender stopped him in his tracks.

Sticking with O'Connell is probably exactly what will happen.

IE: The usual opposite of what we should do.

We aren't going to be in position to draft one of the top 3 QB's but certainly can take a run at one of the other guys. Someone always drops. Personally, I'd draft OL and DL.

Jayden Daniel’s QB #3?

Comparison is the thief of joy — that’s true in almost all facets of life. It’s hard not to see that silhouette of a young Lamar Jackson, though, when Daniels hits the field for LSU, and some similarities can’t be denied.

Daniels is not as naturally elusive in the open field as Jackson was — at Louisville and during his first few years with the Baltimore Ravens — but the upright stride, light feet and explosive burst upfield are near carbon copies. Jackson was a bit more efficient with his footwork and eyes through his progression, but I’ve noted since September that Daniels has made strides in his willingness to trust his eyes and the structure of LSU’s passing game to give him the right answers.

He has also been a much-improved dropback passer in 2023. His completion rate is up a bit from last year (71 percent from 69 percent in ’22), and he has lowered his sack rate from 10 percent to 6 percent by being less erratic in his pocket management and speeding up his internal clock.

The Jackson comparisons hold in throwing styles, too. Daniels has just enough velocity to make throws into closing windows, but his best clips are on layered or touch throws deep downfield. Daniels and the LSU staff leaning into that strength has paid huge dividends for this offense, as Daniels is one of just two FBS QBs with a completion rate over 70 percent and an air-yards-per-attempt average of more than 10.0.

Daniels is not throwing the ball into harm’s way, but he is taking chances and understands his legs are always an explosive checkdown option.

The Heisman feels destined to land in the hands of a QB whose team is in the College Football Playoff/New Year’s Six conversation (unless Marvin Harrison Jr. can claim it), but no one is having a better individual showcase this year than Daniels. Based on his talent and developmental trajectory, it’s becoming easier to get on board with the thought that he might be the third-best QB prospect in this year’s class.

It’s ok to stick with him BUT draft a guy as high as possible and O’Connell will have to fight for the job. If he losses he’s the backup. It’s not rocket science!

Onboard with that. Just don’t draft another O’Connell level prospect to battle with O’Connell. Shoot your shot if you’re taking a QB.

it really just comes down to who is there when we pick. I’m not for burning a 1 on a guy we don’t feel that great about. This team needs lots of other things not just QB

The list is older but its a deep class. I think 6-8 of those guys would rate higher than Levis last year and closer to Richardson.

Its early obviously but the QB list is long. Stroud and Bryce would still be in the top 3-4 QBs in either class. Shuffle em up however you need to.

At the very least we should be should be looking really hard at this group whether you believe in Aiden or not.

Where would a dude like Haener or AO'C or Hendon Hooker rank below? (Carson Beck could rattle some cages if he actually declares too. The list also doesnt have Van Dyke/Rattler/Leonard who are high upside developmental kids)

1.Caleb WilliamsUSC
2.Drake MayeNorth Carolina
3.Michael Penix Jr.Washington
4.Jayden DanielsLSU
5.Shedeur SandersColorado
6.Cameron WardWSU
7.Bo NixOregon
8.J.J. McCarthyMichigan
9.Quinn EwersTexas
10.Jordan TravisFlorida State
11.Michael PrattTulane
12.KJ JeffersonArkansas
13.Joe MiltonTennessee

Really just depends where we end up picking and who is left for me as to whether we do it in round 1. Might want to go after someone at the top of round 2 (maybe even move up) depending on how things shake out. It's a little early to figure out the strategy.

With the Bears having two of the likely top 5 picks one will be for sale so we can consider moving up (if we continue to win some games here).

I don’t think it’s that dire either.

I just think the dudes assuming we are ok at QB are delusional. For once our need intersects with a strong class.

I’m guessing those mid round guys we pumped last year would rank 10+ on that list above.

definitely need to grab one but I’m not sure it needs or should be with our first pick. Maybe there’s a guy worthy there and I’m all for it, first or 2nd round for sure.

Yup, we can keep AO'C and still draft a QB in rounds 1-2 and let them duke it out.

Don’t be in denial. We need a very high QB pick. We need a real quarterback.
Well we already fucked that up most likely. We'll see where things are at end of season, where we are picking, who comes out for draft, and how they all look after their final season of CFB. We'll also know a lot more after 1/2 a season with Aidan as starter.

Probably gonna have to trade up. Maybe this time we won’t be afraid and step on our dicks again.

I don’t care where we draft him but make sure it’s your guy. Non of that Connor Cook he’s good value in the 4th round nonsense or just sitting around waiting for someone to fall to your spot. Be intelligent but be aggressive.

Kudos to you Bones for being on the CJ Stroud train. The train left the station last April with Ziegler and McDaniels watching it

As you said, Raiders will need to be aggressive and go up and get their guy. Too much competition for QBs in next years draft
