There are only 3 CB making over $20M per year. That is one less than LT and one less than OG. However, unlike OG, where getting paid is a new thing, lesser OG have not got paid yet. There are 5 CB making over $18M but only 1 OG making over $18M but less than $20M.

What is harder to fill? I would assume CB1. But I don’t think Arnold is CB1 in Graham’s system. Neither Arnold nor Mitchell played press-man in college and, unlike Mitchell, Arnold does not have the traits to play press-man. He is a system fit talent.

Draft BPA for us. That, to me, is an OL or QB.

"He could project inside" is the biggest cop-out in draft evaluation. Might as well say McCarthy could be a QB but possibly projects to a placekick holder. OT and OG are two different positions and one is infinitely harder to fill than the other, hence 90% of the OT prospect projections getting hedged by that particular qualifier. If you think a guy is an OG, then project him accordingly and compare the ROI of drafting him in the 1st round vs. others in that positional class. Personally, I'd probably take Arnold over the OT that's really an OG guy since the floor for both seems to be positions of lesser urgency in the first round, and quality nickelbacks are harder to find than guards IMO.
Um.. I don’t necessarily feel the same as it being a “cop-out”. I think what they are saying is this guy has basically two floors and two ceilings. I am sure teams view certain prospects in different lights in where they will play or even start out their careers. I see nothing wrong with a OT in college starting out as a OG then working his way back outside after a year.

Who are these lineman drafted early that started out as guards and moved to tackle?

I think Onwenu and Braden Smith did? Both day two or three type guys who just happened to work out.

If it’s happening out there a bunch with top 15 draft pick offensive lineman I was unaware lol.

I don't fucking get it.

There isn't a single prospect who's safe. We've done the SAFE route before. Gallery in 2004 over Rivers and Roethlisberger. Michael Huff over Matt Leinart and Jay Cutler. Those guys busted just like anyone else could.

You go out and draft Josh Rosen over Kolton Miller and at least you tried. But you go out and draft Robert Gallery over a half dozen Hall of Famers and you'll rightfully get fucking creamed in NFL circles.

Jets took a productive Jamal Adams at #6 in the 2017 NFL draft and passed on Mahomes and Watson. Think they'd take that back? Broncos took Bradley Fucking Chubb over Josh Allen in 2018 and then ran Case Keenum out there for 16 games at QB.

Here's the issue. The UPSIDE for drafting Arnold, Mitchell, Fuaga, or Latham is to be the Broncos or 49ers in 2018 or the Jets in 2017. You get a serviceable player and you still have Josh McCown, Case Keenum, Gardner Minshew as your QB. Maybe you passed on Josh Rosen. Or maybe you passed on Watson/Mahomes/Allen.

The downside is drafting Robert Gallery when 2 Hall of Famers were drafted in the following 2 picks and another at #11.

Ogden was the popular excuse for Gallery iirc.

No Collins was a failed LT prospect who had a couple nice years at LG for the Raiders. Matt Stinchcomb was a G/T combo who moved around and never stuck at either. Langston Walker was a RT who saw SOME action at OG after failing at RT.

I heard a 1st round OT player OG last year but I have not looked it up to confirm.

If you like Penix enough to trade up for him, I don’t get why you would risk missing out on him.

The only reason not to draft Penix at #13 is if you like Nix as much at #44 or are willing to settle for Rattler due to scheme fit.

Didn’t he suck last year? I know my Titan fan dad hated him haha.
For a rookie? For the #11 pick?

For a vet he was slightly below average per:
  • SIS: 2.4%
  • PFF: 61.6
  • Snaps: 806

I have zero personal knowledge of this. But PFF loves and hates him. He earned a PFF grade of 61 (Van Roten was a 75), but he still made their All-Rookie team.

This means literally nothing. But it's all I've got.

The only other thing I could tell you is that the Titans' OL was widely panned as awful last year.

Does that mean Skoronski is part of the problem? Or was he the lone fish swimming in a sea of shit?

🤷‍♂️

For comparison, Parham made PFF’s all-rookie team last year with 980 snaps, 2.0% SIS production rate and 61.9 PFF grade.
