Oh really? Is that why they apologized for mocking the last supper?

They apologized for giving offense, but I don't see any acknowledgement that the performance was meant to be a spin on the last supper. So...unless I missed something, they didn't apologize for mocking the last supper.

Nice try, Sleet. "A" for effort.

They apologized for anyone that was offended, because people were as you know. They did not apologize because it was the last supper. The person that created it said it wasn't the last supper but you can believe who you want to. Were you offended?
Exactly. Hypocrisy on full display. The double standard plain for everyone to see. Do as I say, not as I do. The people doing the offending, i.e., those putting that trash on TV — including NBC — could give a shit about offending people. Did Disney not fire the Mandalorian actress for far less? Lol.

You're describing yourself, you putz. Settle down. You are not a victim, no matter how desperately you want to be.

or that people that love being butt hurt will always find a reason to be
That is so laughable.

Bill Maher has spent the last 3 years trashing the woke left or “butt hurt” as you put it.

And it is the woke left that put that trash in TV.

GTFOOH with with double standard and hypocrisy.

Here you go @Jayl:

Others, including a statement from Paris 2024 producers obtained by TheWrap Sunday, said that it was in fact inspired by Da Vinci’s famous painting — a skewing of the religious imagery that has been slammed by the Christian right as a mockery of Jesus Christ.

“For the ‘Festivities’ segment, Thomas Jolly took inspiration from Leonardo da Vinci’s famous painting to create the setting,” producers said in the statement. “Clearly, there was never an intention to show disrespect towards any religious group or belief … [Jolly] is not the first artist to make a reference to what is a world-famous work of art. From Andy Warhol to ‘The Simpsons,’ many have done it before him.”

you mad bro? lmao
You don’t even watch Bill, I do. You should actually start watching his show instead of selecting little snippets that support your worldview.
What is really laughable is how upset you are about some people in costumes at the olympic ceremony. Oh noes, were you able to sleep after seeing that?

Icon.

Thomas Jolly, the opening ceremony director, insisted in an interview with France's BFMTV that "The Last Supper" was not the inspiration behind the scene, explaining that "Dionysus arrives at the table because he is the Greek God of celebration," adding that the particular sequence was entitled "festivity."

"The idea was to create a big pagan party in link with the God of Mount Olympus — and you will never find in me, or in my work, any desire of mocking anyone," Jolly said.
Why are you rehashing this baseless point?

Artist like advertisers know exactly the different messages they are conveying. And so did NBC and mainstream media.

What baseless point, the one from the creator of the segment saying what it was?
NBC is in charge of France’s opening ceremonies now?

Go fuck yourself. I’m advocating my viewpoint no differently than you asshates who posted about it for two days before I weighed in on it. I’m not going to suppress my speech b/c you don’t like it. Next time don’t bring that garbage in here.

Yes, I'm just posting for the ones saying "conservatives are dumb, they don't even know it was about Greek mythology, duh". It's obvious to everyone not being disingenuous that it was inspired by The Last Supper.

No, I like talking religion and politics.

Weird how you and Crow both made it personal rather than defend the hypocrisy and double standard.

Offending people is back on the menu! Lol

I didn't bring you here, so I don't know what you mean.

Were you offended?
Nope, didn't watch it. I'm just saying that it was inspired by The Last Supper and everyone knows that. Of course you have liberals coming out and saying how unhinged and stupid conservatives are because they didn't know the whole production was about Greek Mythology and didn't have anything to do with The Last Supper.

So now you have amnesia?

Even though you and Crow saw the same thing the majority of Americans saw, it’s okay b/c that was not the artists intention?

How does that artist or Olympics feel about bringing back the Redskins and Indians? Lol
