Sure, J russ is a long armed Qb with a Duante-like physique but that is really where he falls off the map. Dude is moderately lazy and his attitude has come into question. Now, that said, the shift of Gallery to RT and Simms seems to give is some more stablity on the o-line and could make a young QB's life a bit easier, but ask David Carr what it is like to play behind a BAD o-line. QB, Russell or otherwise, is not the the band aid we need. We need some o-line and blocking FB/TE type stitches to fix this gaping wound.

I'd prefer to see us TRADE DOWN and draft some more line help or stand pat at one and draft the WR from GaTech who name escapes me or go for a Rb who can change directions and be quick about it!

Yeah, but don't Justin Griffith, Tony Stewart, and Fred Wakefield address the "FB/TE type stitches" that you're talking about?

What are you advocating? Drafting Joe Thomas with the first overall pick, since you know the Raiders never trade down? And you also know that there's no way we're going RB after renegotiating LaMont and signing Dominick Rhodes. Just ain't happenin', dude.

Al never shocks me anymore and Petersen is just his type. And I'd have No Problem with Joe Thomas at #1! It all starts on defense and in the trenches!

Hey, is it still cold in Omaha??

Fuck you. In fact, fuck you every time your heart beats!

Yes, it is still cold here. It was mid-70s today, but they're saying 40s by the weekend. That said, Spring is just around the corner...

Hhhm. Low 80's today in Los Angeles. Had a nice dinner in drinks on a sidewalk bar/restaurant on Colorado Blvd in Pasadena. Can't complain.

I know, I know, "fuck me"

No, no, RaiderIV. Not "fuck me"....

FUCK YOU!

I'm really sorry, TG... but they really, really, really deserved it.

To get back to the idea of drafting Joe Thomas #1 overall, the obvious question is: Who plays quarterback? Do you have that much faith in Andrew Walter? While I'm by no means ready to give up on the kid (as I truly believe that nobody would have succeeded behind last year's line, John Elway included) but I'm certainly not comfortable going into next season with him as the unquestioned starter?

On a bit of a different track, I've seen a lot of people say that Joe Thomas can be a "Very Good" tackle, rather than a great one.... and that's eerily similar to what I said the ceiling for one Robert Gallery was (I didn't hate the guy, but I said that comparisons to Walter Jones, Orlando Pace, and Jonathan Ogden were ridiculous). Does that not bother you? Are you still willing to take that plunge again, despite similarly (or better) ranked players at different positions, in a year where we can use offensive help pretty much across the board?

Russell's pro day is tomorrow (today, technically) if I'm not mistaken. That should clear up a few concerns at least. I'm guessing/hoping he goes the fuck off, personally, and solidifies that #1 status.

Yup. I'm in Ventura. Nothing better than riding my skateboard around under a 7:30, 70 degree sunset.

Been in the 80's here in Tucson this week, although its supposed to cool off and drop down to the low 70's next week. Damn this late winter weather....

Weather in Vegas has been similar. Bracing for the coming 'hot and shitty, with near hurricane force winds" season, however.

I am not sure I buy the argument on Russell being lazy. I just don't know how somebody makes such progress over 3 years (increased his accuracy from 50.7% to 60.5% to 67.8%) if they are not putting the work in. His pro day will be very interesting.

Spring has truly sprung over here, it has been low 60s.

Today is big for me, I can drop him like a bad habit if he has a bad day. I am really on the fence right now with him........I HATE THIS TIME OF YEAR, I would rather it be the day before the draft end the speculation........

Stepper you want lousy weather? Come on up again and check this place out. Rain, Wind, Cold. I need to get the hell out of here. One terrible winter.

Welcome back, S&B.

What are you basing his laziness on, though? No one can ever say anything in specifics here.

Honestly, I was open to a number of things but the signings we've made have narrowed my focus in a way I hadn't quite expected. Peterson? Nope. Whether you like it or not we're going with our current group at RB, it seems. I personally liked Fargas more than most but there are a couple speedy little third down backs I think will fall in the draft that I might consider, or as UFAs if they make it there.

FB? Griffith's one of the best in the game. Maybe sign a UFA again.

TE is still a priority IMO simply because for all I care ALL THREE of the BUMS we had last year can hit the road. Every last one of 'em. Even Courtney. We got the blockers but someone to help out catching the ball is still a priority there IMO.

Tackle? Not gonna happen at No. 1. Thomas isn't worthy of that; he's not a SPECIAL kind of talent. Top 5, sure, but not first overall material.

And we know Al never trades down.

So that leaves Calvin Johnson. But he only makes sense if Moss is traded. And right now that just looks to be dragging on and on. I'll believe something on that front when I see it.

But until then if you weigh everything Russell has to be considered the top guy for us, his pro day pending.

1st round: Take the boss QB
2nd round: Get the left tackle to take Sims' job
3rd round: Pass-catching TE

Then fill in at guard, center, receiver, and see if you can get a couple d-linemen late in the Grady Jackson/Rod Coleman/La'Roi Glover style.

JMO.
