Mine too broski!

You are back in my good graces. You’re welcome.

I do think Mike Patton is the most underrated though. He’s got so much range he’s made a career out of voice acting on the side.
Sebastian Bach went into Opera, if I’m remembering correctly. Would have never called that happening.

Forgot about Patton. Strictly talent wise he's gotta be up there. As far as "favorite" goes some of his stuff can be a little out there for me. Anselmo is awesome because he could do it all pretty well and with authority. What I loved about Layne was the build before he just let loose. Like a snake curling up to strike.

I was dating this chick back in the band days, she said she went to a party that had a bunch of fairly famous people at and Mike Patton was jumping up and down on the couch with a drumstick shoved up his ass. Was confirmed to be true from some other industry friends.

Cantrell is a big part of what made Staley great, not trying to take away from Staley but Cantrell is the perfect compliment and their vocals together make AIC more special.

Out of that whole grunge scene AIC was the one band that I just could not get in to. Couldn’t tell you why either. And I tried to like them. All of my buddies loved them but nothing they ever did moved me at all.

Eat a dick.

Nirvana was the shitty one in the big group of grunge bands that all came out.

Cantrell couldn't save this new guy.

I tried to give Duvall a shot. He aint got it.

Crazy we consider him the 'new guy'

Fuckin 15 years in the band hahaha.

I bet thats almost longer than Layne Staley.

He doesn't deserve to be mentioned by name. Too bad Weiland died because he was probably the most natural replacement.

I really liked Weiland the artist.

And then I read an article from his family about him after. Maybe it shouldnt have changed my opinion of him but it did.

He would have been a great lead man though. He was even good for Velvet Revolver.

I read that a while back. IIRC he got into heroin trying to gain some credibility since he/STP were billed as knockoffs.

Vedder calling him out as ripping him off and then demos surfacing that pre-dated Pearl Jam was a story for a while.

You’re not the first one to suggest that eating a dick is the most reliable precursor to appreciating AIC. I’ve just never been that committed to liking a band! They’re in your top 5 though?

Ahaha.

My overall taste probably would suck compared to most lists.

I love a lot of classic bands don't get me wrong.

But I grew up on hair metal and grunge.

AIC/Soundgarden/Pearl Jam make my top three.

I actually fuckin love RATT though hahaha.

Like I said, I cannot honestly say why I don’t dig AIC. Based on the other stuff I liked from that era, you’d think I would. Also, you’re wrong about Nirvana being the weakest.... that was Smashing Pumpkins.

My top 3 from that era would be Soundgarden, Stone Temple Pilots, Pearl Jam.

Nothing wrong with that list!

I do think the AiC fans get defensive because they always ranked fourth in the mainstream out of the big groups who blew up. I think @gst8 and I have talked in this thread about it years ago.

Nirvana hit first, Pearl Jam hit longest. Soungarden and Aic (I would argue were the best actual artists/vocalists) but had the heavier sound that didnt get the radio play.

The only one I never loved was Nirvana. Give me The Melvins, Mudhoney even Janes Addiction over them.

I’d put Nirvana 4th. Beyond those ones, though, that era seemed to have a whole lot of one hit wonders where I’d really dig a song... but kick myself for buying the album, you know? Seven Mary Three and the like.
