I don’t know why I give this guy a free pass for being a piece of shit. I was at the Montreal show in 95 when he went on a crazy rant about how white people can’t wear white pride shirts and then jumped a black bouncer who kept side eyeing him.

He was a junkie and generally known for being a dick so there's a lot a person has to look past with him. Also one of the realist metal vocalists ever, which is why I think some of the other stuff gets overlooked by fans of the music. I also personally just don't have the energy for that stuff anymore.

HR of the Bad Brains is similar. That guy gets a pass for being a severe homophobic piece of shit who was notorious for fucking people over. Yet, he’s still beloved by the punk rock community…especially the DC people.

HR is legitimately mentally ill so I think that's part of it with him. I kinda take Phil as someone that just wants to be provocative and confrontational more than legitimately racist but who knows. Race has become such a daily topic these days that I tend to tune it out and keep on stepping.
