Meryl Streep is voicing Aslan in Greta Gerwig's "Narnia: The Magician's Nephew." The lion's new design is inspired by David Bowie (multicolored eyes and a red-striped face).

“I wanted someone who was profound but not pretentious, who had gravitas but not morose self-seriousness. Someone who could communicate depth and pathos as well as joy and delight. I wanted someone who was older than 70, so there was a wisdom of experience, but who also had the capacity of fresh wonder, like a child. And also to be one of the greatest actors to ever do it. That list is not a long one,” Gerwig tells Empire.

Sounds insufferable. "profound but not pretentious, who had gravitas but not morose" STFU.

Watched it. Was nice and trippy. Great concept and story. Great use of practical effects. Some of the acting was a little flat at times. Liked it and would recommend.

Puppets instead of CG? That's a promising start. It's still two years away, though. Anything can happen.

Haven't seen any others in this series (universe?), but this looks nice and weird. The fact that Jim Henson's Creature Shop is involved, just makes me want to see it more.
